Active Minds 35 Piece Spring Stream Jigsaw Puzzle | Specialist Alzheimer's/Dementia Activities & Games

We purchased this puzzle for my mother who is suffering with dementia. She's 86 and loves puzzles, but the dementia has made the task extremely difficult for her. We were trying puzzles from the store that were 300, then 200, then 100 pieces and would have to help her through because she just couldn't get through it like she used to and that frustrated her.I thought we'd give this one a try. Personally, when I saw the HUGE pieces, I thought that mom would think it was for kids or something, but to my surprise she got so excited and took right to it! Being able to complete the puzzle all by herself was a huge sense of accomplishment for her. She was so proud of herself and said how much fun it was. She loves this puzzle and does it over and over again; each time with so much joy. Can't hardly believe what a winner this one was. We will absolutely be purchasing other puzzles by this creator.Thanks to the creator, the sellers and Amazon for making this puzzle available! You have help alleviate at least a little of the stress that comes with the dementia struggle and are helping to keep the spark alive in our blessed senior citizens who deserve our compassion and quality care for all the years they have poured out raising the rest of us knuckleheads. :) Sincere thanks from the bottom of my heart.

It was a wonderful puzzle to put together with my elderly mother. She found she was able to do it with only a little help. As she has not actually been diagnosed with any memory problems, I found myself trying to conceal the back labeling that discussed dementia etc. (see attached photo). I will definitely be buying contact paper as suggested by previous reviewer to hide that info. Suggest manufacturer instead print that on removable package insert.

Another wonderful piece for my mom with moderate cognitive problems. The tray with border is a terrific idea. The tray allows unsteady hands to try pieces, without shifting the puzzle pieces already in place. There is little frustration at "making a mess of things" or with being too clumsy to continue. That alone is a blessing. The artwork looks as though it would be frustrating - the picture has multiple images - but the large sized puzzle piece makes a difference, and the pieces are cleverly cut - somehow it makes all the difference. Most of the pieces are border pieces, which I have found to be quite helpful, as the straight-edges guide my mom. In fact, the "busy" nature of the artwork allows us to sit and discuss what a character is doing/thinking and my mom may even relate a memory from her own life that builds on the events depicted. The puzzle pieces are stiff and need a little working to take them apart ...I take care of that. However, I have noticed a complete turnaround in my mom's dexterity in terms of being able to fit the pieces together, since she has started the Active Mind puzzles. I think these puzzles are marvelous. I have purchased six or seven of the Active Minds line of puzzles and I can only ask that they come out with more 35 or 45 piece puzzles. I would buy them in a heartbeat.

My 89 year old mother loves to make puzzles but they became too challenging. I looked into Active Minds puzzles and found that they are just right for her level and enjoyment.She started with 63 piece puzzles and now we are working with 35 pieces. We like that the box is set up for her to succeed with the photo of the puzzle always in view. We like that it can be built inside it's own box, less lost pieces and easier to store. The pieces are sturdy and of good lasting quality and can easily be made sitting down at a kitchen table which makes it much easier on an 89 year old's back so that they are not hunched over while building it.We love the product. Have purchased 7 puzzles and use them over and over.I would recommend the puzzles to families with or without dementia.

Bought this puzzle for my 90 year old mother who has mild dementia. She has told me several times how she enjoyed it and has redone the puzzle several times. With larger pieces and only 35 of them, she can put it together in an hour or two. She gets frustrated with large puzzles.

This is indeed a beautiful puzzle. It is well made and I like the fact that the box the puzzle comes in is hinged with a picture of the completed puzzle printed on the inside of the box lid. This makes it easy to put the puzzle together in he bottom of the box while looking at a picture of how the completed puzzle should look. I will definitely be purchasing more items from Active Minds!

Loved everything about puzzle - size of pieces, quality of pieces, box sized for completed puzzle. BUT hate the fact the pieces do not connect easily. Need to apply lot of pressure to get pieces in place.

We haven't used this yet ... just received it but hoping it will something he will enjoy working on with me.

My husband enjoyed completing this puzzle very much. He liked the picture and we talked about the scene. The pieces are fitted back together in the box, which is very helpful, as it acts as a tray to keep the pieces from sliding across the table; people with dementia often have reduced fine motor control. I would have given the product five stars, but the pieces are very tight and my husband struggled to fit them together, without a little help.

No lo veo adecuado para enfermos de Alzheimer por su dificultad. Por otro lado las piezas tampoco son fáciles de desencajar. Me parece mal que lo recomienden específicamente para enfermos de grado medio a avanzado. Desde luego los de avanzado no lo pueden utilizar. Pensé que por el precio estaría muy bien pensado para ellos pero me equivoqué.

A bit pricey. thick Foam pieces make it sticky/hard to click into place.

Piezas de tamaño grande, ideales para ancianos que han perdido habilidades. Y de muy buena calidad, de plástico. La composición incluyendo imagen de referencia y espacio para construir el puzzle también es muy acertada.
