Worked on Stihl FS 55R
Easy to install on my Stihl FS55R model. These replacement parts seem to all be similar in quality and durability. Bottom line is they don't last long, but for $13.80, I bought 2 so I'd have a backup waiting when this one inevitably breaks. Basically, these are a cheap way to get your trimmer back up and running.

Had no idea I could replace this...so easy and works great!
Beats taking to a small engine repair shop and having to pay $100 like they quoted me to replace it.

Broke after a month
It was a great fit, had a good feeling in it's pull and return. Half way through the job I went to pull it and it didn't spring back. I did pull it hard it was a weak pull which is why I'm more surprised. I took it apart and the spring has streaked out and could not fix it.

Not as heavy gauge plastic as the factory one but it bolted up perfectly and works fine.

Remember it is a replacement item
The value is unbeatable. It bolts up nicely. Allows for no issues with just replacing the pullcord and the tricky spring associated with it. It is convenient and acceptable. Downside, the color is slightly off and the what cap where the "name-brand" should go aren't the same. I thought I'll just remove white circle and put our "tag" there instead....nope it don't work like that. But I do still recommend the item and would purchase future ones when needed. Good buy, happy customer.

Works great with a bit of modification
Another reviewer pointed out that this part does not include the exhaust cover. If you want to remove it from the original you will have to heat up the plastic to get it off.Once you try to put the exhaust cover on this new replacement part you will realize it was not designed for this. You will have to cut some plastic back to allow the clips to fit. It's not a deal breaker but something you should be aware of.I installed this new part and now my trimmer works great. Maybe I will try to replace the spring on the old one as this part is probably not as durable as the original.
