A lot of fun and just a tiny bit naughty
I'd been waiting for this book for a long time, reading about it on the web site, and anticipating it anxiously. I wasn't disappointed. It's a tricky topic and I can see how it could easily have been mishandled. Make it too dirty and people are offended. Make it too clean and they're disappointed. I think Craig has achieve the perfect balance of showing the work of familiar cartoonists whom we know from the funny pages and the comic books, and giving us just a peek at what they draw for themselves in their private moments.Art schools are full of nude models in life drawing classes, so it should come as no surprise that most artists have drawn an unclad female at one time or another. The fun is in seeing drawings like this from the pen of well-known cartoonists who specialize in family-friendly material. It's a novelty that in no way detracts from their vast body of work but shows them as rather human.I also have to mention the beautiful production. You don't usually find such high-quality paper and printing in a book at this price point. The cover alone is impressive, gorgeously printed with embossing and spot varnish. A real art book kind of treatment, nicely designed and executed.I'm looking forward to the next volume!

If your wanting to know about censored work, girls and history this is a great book for you.
Thier really was nothing I disliked about this book, and R.Crumbs writing and Yoes Writing is very intellectual and interesting in thier take and opinions on these different artists. Also loved how they showed the history of how dirty comics came to be from 1930’s to present. I also loved the front cover and how you presented each artists girls on the front of the cover. I also liked how it has Yoes and R.Crumbs drawings in the beginning of the book, I just wish there could have least been 4 or 5 drawings for each Cartoon so people who read this book could grasp the concept of what each artists style is, but also links to where you could find these dirty artworks too :).

Awesome for the comic lover that thought they had it all!
My girlfriend is a comic book nerd like me, and she has a pretty extensive collection of comics, graphic novels, and art pieces. She's usually pretty easy to shop for, but I was stumped this past holiday season. As soon as I saw this book, I knew that I had her stocking stuffer present taken care of.It's not that dirty... mainly "R" rated levels of content, a lot of innuendo, and a few more risque pieces. This lack of hardcore content may be a drawback for some, but they can find their filth elsewhere. This is a collection of sketches, fine art, and doodles done by the minds behind Batman, Superman, Wonderwoman, and even sunday morning strips like Family Circus's Bill Keane. It's a very unique gift for those that love comics.Bottom line: She loved it, and I'm glad I bought it. Check it out!

Not So Dirty
Craig Yoe does a nice job of describing the various artists represented in this volume, but -- as R. Crumm seems to make clear in his introduction -- the drawings included are not exactly all that dirty. There are numerous examples of "good girl" art (all PG-13 stuff) and a couple of R-rated illustrations, but, if you're looking for prurience, you won't find it here. There's enough that's pleasing to the eye; just be sure to go into this volume with the right expectations. (For me, the most interesting part of the entire volume was Yoe's description of what happened to JOE PALOOKA creator Ham Fisher.)

Ginchy Glimpses of Classic Kink
This book is just what the title offers; a very nice collection of early 1900's era dirty cartoons from some of the worlds most famous cartoonists including surprises from creators like Charles Schulz (creator of Peanuts) and Jack Kirby (creator of the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Hulk, Thor, etc.). As a self-proclaimed pervert I thoroughly enjoyed the drawings in this book, my only complaint, and thus the 4 out of 5 stars, is that each cartoonist features only a page at most of their work. While this allows the book to collect a prolific number of creators, I would have liked to see a full strip or story; I guess I'm just a sucker for a plot.

Great fun
Lots of entertainment here. "Dirty" drawings is perhaps a misnomer--mostly it's pinup material. OTOH, Joe Shuster (Superman) turns out to have an unexpected taste for S&M. Eisner and Caniff turned out some great material, as well as Ditko and the other Silver Age luminaries from Marvel.

Get your mind in the gutter.
This book features "naughty" drawings by cartoonists who made their reputation working on clean comics. These drawings mostly aren't all that "dirty", but they were too racy for mainstream America at the time. Not many actually sex acts are depicted, but there are many drawings of naked or half-naked women. It's a lot of fun seeing the off-color side of these artists, not to mention that most of the artwork is great. If you're not a prude, you'll probably enjoy this book.

clean cartoonists drawings
A book of cartoonists offbeat drawings-including risque, and glamour drawings by such artists as milton caniff(terry and the pirates), chuck jones(bugs bunny),ham fisher(joe palooka) and al capp(li'l abner among others. A good book if you are interested in cartoons or comic book art.

Dazzling
With over 60 artists featured this is an almost encyclopaedic orgy of smut. The work is mostly mid-century but does go as far back as Thomas Rowlandson and Gustav Dore (who penned probably the filthiest images in the book). It's all good-humoured stuff with very little actual sex, concentrating more on pin-up (but with less underwear) and implied naughtiness. It's a big book at 8 1/2 inches x 11 inches and well worth the money. Some colour but mainly black and white.
