Sturdy piece of kit!
I needed a set of dividers to mark bowl blanks for wood turning. The Faithfull dividers are sturdy and well made, and a fraction of the price of major brands. A quality bit of kit, well worth the purchase.

Great value "light duty" spring dividers
I bought these dividers for leatherwork, I use them to mark out stitching lines on the edges of leather and for this, it works a treat. The dividers arrived well packaged and coated in a thick layer of oil to protect them from corrosion during their life in storage. After a quick wipe down with a kitchen towel they were ready for use.The dividers legs are made from a relatively thin material for their intended job, I tried them on some aluminium and yes they work fine but.... if you apply a lot of force then they can flex a little and throw out your accuracy hence the "light duty" in the description.Using the dividers is simple just turn the thumb wheel until they open/close to your exact distance, when opening them as some have said they can stick a little when new. This wasn't a major problem for me I just opened them with my fingers when they stuck and to be fair, as time went on this problem became less and less. When fully closed the legs were reasonably flush and the same was true when open so long as you don't apply excessive force and bend them.Bottom line.....These dividers work great for crafts and light use with metals, they are reasonably accurate for the price but may flex and throw out your measurement with excessive force. For precision engineering work in a commercial workshop you may want to invest a bit more money in a known brand.Would I recommend them? Yes! For the price they work great so long as you don't expect sub-millimetre accuracy.

Don’t use this to measure the distance of a journey it takes Too long and is back breaking.
They say size does not matter but it made this product stand out. Such quality and craftsmanship. Another tool not often used but when needed. Is a life saver. Amazon on the ball as usual monitoring purchase and delivery.

OK for the price.
For the price (I paid a bit over £5 delivered) you can't expect to get a 'proper' engineering tool - Starrett 6" dividers list at 85 USD for example. The problems with the Faithfull example I had are: - the ends aren't ground to anything like a point (see pic). It would not be possible to locate that in a centre-punched mark, which would be a typical engineering application. Not difficult to grind or even file them down though.- the 'points', such as they are, aren't significantly hardened, as claimed on the packaging. I have test files and the softest (40 HRC) is harder - normally one would expect something above 55HRC.- the spring is too weak to hold the dividers open anywhere above about half their range. I addressed this by removing the spring and squeezing it a bit further closed in a vice. That seems to have worked for the time being, but it was a bit too easy to deform the spring - I doubt that it is made from properly tempered spring steel. So it may relax - time will tell. To remove the spring you just have to unscrew the little ball thingy on the end of the adjusting screw, unscrew the adjusting nut until it come off the end of the screw, and it all falls to pieces.Three stars because it's cheap and after a bit of fettling it works and is functionally equivalent (in the short term at least) to 5* products which work out of the box and will last a lifetime - but cost much more.Because the

Good enough for the money
For the price it is acceptable, not too shoddy and up for the job.I was going to pick up an old one for triple the price but this will do the job for my needs.
