This is, by far, the best file I’ve ever owned. I purchased it for its intended purpose (axe sharpening), but discovered it works well for more delicate tasks because it has a safe edge. This file will last a lifetime but I’m purchasing a second (just in case).

This a very nice file. Well made and a little smaller than a full sized file making easier for being along in a backpack or using in tighter areas. I bought it for planing and sharpening an un sharpened hachette I had. The double grit side made quick work of the planning and the single grit side sharpened it right up. Very pleased with the size and quality of the file I highly recommend it.

This product performs very well. I purchased it to sharpen mower blades and axe heads. First use was mower blades. I was concerned about the size of the file. It seemed very small but the size turned out to be about right for the job. I do a lot in the field using knives and axes teaching youth Basic Survival. I love the product. Typically Germany knows their steel. I purchased for a quality product and I am so far pleased with the performance and quality.

Good quality. This is a finishing file. Not meant for quick metal removal.

I have been refurbishing an old axe head with a bad handle. I was not happy that it could not smooth out small nicks in the edge. The file skipped over the surface. The Craftsman Axe won the hardness battle. I went to my next go-to file. a Nicholson file. That file could smooth out the nicks I had. Being a former industrial mechanic, I have used thousands of hand and power tools. I tried this file on another tool, and it did a good job. With a nice rubber sleeve on the handle, this could be a top shelf tool.
