Fun/Complex game. Can get expensive with expansions...
This game has been declining in popularity due to the fact that most new product releases have been put on hold because of the impending release of a Monsterpocalypse movie. Privateer Press has been very quiet about the future for this game, presumably because of their confidentiality agreement with Dreamworks on the movie. So until more is known about the release of the movie we will suffer with limited or no "new" products (although there are plenty of items out there already). (I heard Dreamworks may be waiting to see how well "Pacific Rim" does at the box office before they make a final decision on the Monsterpocalypse movie. This is only rumor.)So let's get the this game... it is a complete 2 player set-up with enough pieces and information to get you started in Monsterpocalypse. The game play is very thought-provoking and includes many strategic moves and plays. Many actions are based specifically on the abilities of one or more of your active figures. The game maps contain numerous different terrain features which add to the exciting variations available in this game. It can take a while to get used to all the moves and figure-specific characteristics so start with a basic gameplay. You can incorporate the more complex moves and actions as you become more familiar with the game. It will probably take a good 3-4 matches before you really get the actions down. Don't get frustrated... like all good strategy games, it's supposed to be challenging.PROS- Complete 2 Player set in one box vs. having to buy 2 or more sets of previous release starter sets such as the "Rise" starter sets.- Fully assembled, detailed and painted monsters/figures (NICE)- 26 unit pieces (included) are plenty for your 2 opposing factions- Double-sided full-color playing map providing 2 different game map options (24'x30"), 2 sets of dice, 2 monster health trackers, clear full-color instructions, and more to complete the box contents- The figure's stats, powers, etc are incorporated into the figure bases so there are no separate "power" cards to refer to for moves, etc. This is a big plus!CONS- Monsters and units are packed in the box randomly so you can't pick your favorite factions- 6 buildings (included) is a decent start but you really want about 12 for a good game (expansion packs needed)- Expansion/Booster packs can get expensive if you want to expand your factions. Most Booster packs include random units or monsters so you will end up with duplicates.- Playing mat is paper (glossy poster material) so it can get damaged or torn if you keep folding and unfolding it. I recommend putting it in an inexpensive poster frame (with plexigass, not real glass) to prevent damage (although this will limit you to one side of the game board unless you take it out and flip it over. You can also roll it up for storage vs. folding it up.In the end, I recommend this game for the complex gameplay, colorful playing pieces (figures), and large array of available expansion packs and boosters to complete your various Monsterpocalypse armies/factions. Also, if the movie does ever come out in theaters you will be a step ahead in understanding the story and characters.

Fun, but takes some investment.
A fun "Giant Monsters Fight & Destroy the City" game, with nifty little monster, minion, & building figures. The 2-player Battle Box is the minimum one needs to play the game, but it's a worthwhile purchase. Buying additional figures in order to expand your playing options can get extremely pricey, though. The game is fairly easy to learn, once you've done the stripped down quick-start training version (included with the boxed set) & then played a few full-scale games. The basics of play are simple enough, but figuring out the complexities of how various abilities can interact, and which minions best compliment your giant monster & your style of play, can be the equal of other games such as Magic: The Gathering. The high damage potential of the monsters' attacks seems to make the game go rather quickly (once you know what you're doing), so the game only takes an hour or two, unlike many miniatures wargames.Although the subject matter (& the cool monster figures) would appeal to many, I would just caution that the many details require some investment of time & attention to learn and master, and so the game might not be the best choice for casual & younger players.

Amazing deal, A MUST buy!
If your at all interested in Monsterpocalypse, this is the box you need to have. It comes with a ton of great looking models and the maps and dice and trackers and rulebook! just full of everything you need to play, including 2 full forces right out of the box. An awesome deal. great value for your money. and as far as the game itself goes... The rules are solid, gameplay is fast and really fun and the dice mechanic that doubles as your resources is really original and a total blast to play. there are alot of icons for the abilities, so some quick reference is needed from the rulebook, but on the flip side, the monsters abilities and all are what make the game "easy to learn, hard to master".Simple to learn, fun to play, skillfully complex enough to keep you wanting more. One of the best games Ive ever played!

Monsterpoclypse
My son likes the game because the story is similar to that of Godzilla. What he finds fun is that he can battle other monsters and save Earth or destroy it. One of the characters in the box was dismantled and that is why it received a lower durability rating. The game is fun but it would be better if the game play was a bit shorter.

Cancel the apocalypse? Not if FINISH FIRST!
This is an awesome deal for those looking for an interesting tabletop game to play. My set came with Lovecraftian beasts and Planet Eaters, and my buddy and I enjoyed all the different tactics and the sculpts of the miniatures!

whatever
it's a great games after you learn it. lot of fun and great for kids, only problem is that it's become a little hard to find now. and the booster packs can get really pricy when your trying to find one faction

Giant monsters destroying a city - what's not to like?
Cool figures, great gameplay, awesome fun. Defeat your opponent's monster by smashing it through a skyscraper. Battle his army of minions with your army. All with cool figures that you can add to. Top game.
