Magnificent Miniatures: Inspiration and Technique for Grand Houses on a Small Scale: 0 Hardcover – 1 September 2008

These are probably the finest miniaturists working today, and their work is breathtaking - particularly Spencer House, where the client wanted no expense spared. The writers are also surprisingly humble about their ability, and write with a good deal of charm, humour and common sense - which is not what one would necessarily expect. The book is well put together, and has a token nod to 'practical projects'; however, very few people will actually undertake these projects, but it is interesting to read about some of the writers' techniques. The only downside is that the photo reproduction is not outstanding, and the resolution of the pictures is not terribly good. The book could also have done with being a slightly larger size. I hope that they write a follow-up book, and are able to have a bigger budget for higher quality photos, lighting and reproduction.

I hugely admire Mulvany and Rogers and I have no criticism of the book itself. However the price was outrageous for the size of the book. Also the corners were damaged which appeared to be because of a lack of packaging. I expected a much largersubstantial and more special book for this price of £139.00. If this book is out of print I have no problem paying over theoriginal price but this was ridiculous. Still love this couples work though.

Absolutely Fabulous- unbelievable that such detail could be reduced in size yet still be as beautiful as the original in all thee houses and palaces- very impressed and wonderful photography.

Wonderful pictures and lovely descriptions of several of the many projects this pair of artisans built over the years . Their work is beyond belief - which I knew , but it is SO great to see a collection of their work in one book.I would recommend it for any serious lover of miniatures , if just for inspiration.
