How long is each strand?

Each strand is approx 20cm long and has five led lights on one each end and three spaced between. I hope this helps

Will they stay on if we dont use the timer function ??

These ones don’t have a timer function, use rechargeable batteries, and ‘steady on’ function rather than flashing or other modes. Takes 4 batteries so last for ages, ok?

No instructions, how do i set the timer please?

When you switch them on press the timer and they will stay on for 6 hours then come on again same time next day. I’m not using the timer at the moment as it’s not worth having them on until 10pm!
