Is this a whiteboard as well as having hooks for paper pad?

Yes it’s a whiteboard - brilliant size I’ve been using it while working from home for the last 2 years

What are overall dimensions when packed down? (I want to know if it will fit in my car).

I have it stored as I am abroad for a while birth the legs are retractable making it the size of the board only. I havent put it in a car boot before but pretty sure it would fit a standard as the overall size with retracted feet has the size of a standard suitcase without the depth. Hope this helps. Ps. Good quality

How do you attach an A1 flipchart pad to this - as doesn't look like there are hooks for the holes in the pads. Does it just clamp the pad in place?

The product comes with a pair of hooks (that slide to enable you to line up with the holes on the flipchart - they're NOT all the same spacing !) ...
