Surprisingly well done
I played SF2 quite a bit back in the day (but I was more of an MK girl if I'm being honest). I was a kid when the original SF movie came out, and I've watched a few other SF movies since then. None of them are particularly good, but this one surprised me. It's not corny at all and very respectful to the franchise. I didn't know any of the backstories of SF characters, so it was kind of refreshing to see it done in a semi-realistic way, while being respectful to Japan (80% of the movie is in Japanese). The cast are incredible fighters and I didn't detect any stunt doubles whatsoever, even for the older cast members. My only gripe is how long the movie is; I feel like it could have been cut down a good 20-30 minutes. It's a slower pace at times, but even if you don't know anything about the franchise, it's still a solid movie with fantastic fights, beautiful Japanese scenery, great cinematography, and a touch of mythology.

Round 1 Fight!!
Overall its the Best live action version of streetfighter to date. That being said I did have an issue with how small in build a lot of the characters were. It made no sense that Akuma, Ken and his father were the most muscular people in the whole movie. I was a little taken aback by that you mean to tell me years of hard core martial arts training strength training and eating that these guys couldn't put on weight I know want to video games the characters are drawn with ridiculously large muscles, but the guys in this movie "except Gotetsu and Ken" needed to put on at least 10 to15 pounds. I know that this movie is based off the street fighter alpha which came in right you are a lot younger but it seems like they were in there very late teens and under 22, so they could've actually been more muscular in my opinion. The special effects were good but with some of the martial arts move like the hurricane kick "tatsu maki senpu kenyaku" they tried too much to ground all of the martial arts moves in reality. I know it probably was a matter of budget but they could've done a lot of the special moves better. The Hadoken was cool, but again using what I guess people referred to as realistic movements. Movements like that kind of make everything boring. What's the points of movements that realistic when the main draw of the series is amazing skill superb strength and job dropping special techniques. Again I understand budget constraints, but The director and screenplay writer's should've used a bit more imagination the games and comics/manga and anime capture the essence of the series best. In summary I stream the movie through Amazon but I will buy the Blu-ray because I've been a streetfighter fan since the 90s. So like many others it's kind a like I grew up with Ryu and Ken. Don't give me wrong this movie is definitely worth the watch if you are a serious fan and have been well-versed on the series and games way before 2003. It was an amazing try by this direct, actors and writers. It just needed more violence and flashness. If these guys do another streetfighter film I hope they take a good six or seven months preparation before to put on more weight. Round 1 fight!

Great Story telling with action and heart!
Do you like a great story and action that has you wanting more? You have found it! Street Fighter Assassins Fist (SFAF) is an extremely faithful adapted film based on the massively popular Street Fighter video game. Now lets be very clear that this is unlike any real life adaption of Street Fighter that has come and gone before. This is what so many fans world wide have been waiting for many years to see. In brief, SFAF follows Ken (Christian Howard) & Ryu (Mike Moh) who are closest of friends as they begin to unlock the secret power of the Hado and learn about its very powerful and sometimes dark history of what this ability can cause. Incredibly you will also get a parallel story telling of their teacher Gouken (Akira koieyama) and his brother Gouki/Akuma (Joey Ansah/Gaku Space) who train under the legendary Master Goutetsu (Togo Igawa) who is the last in a long line of powerful warriors before him. The sound in this film will literally knock you out of your seat, set the sub woofers high if you can and feel every punch and kick while being immersed in the amazing orchestral sound which blends the story that Joey Ansah and Christian Howard have scripted with years of hard work and planning to deliver you fans and anyone who wants to be entertained to the highest level possible "a great film". The Martial art choreography you will get to see is almost entirely the actors packing the hard hitting punches and kicks and hits well above many martial arts films being produced today. It is very important to note that many of the moves you see in SFAF very carefully imitate those used in the actual video game and this is not easy to acomplish in live action game adaptions. The aerial ability of Ken, Ryu and Akuma is mind blowing and leaves you thinking did i just see that for real? SFAF is full of rich natural scenery and authentic built Japanese style sets and costumes. English and Japanese were used equally to keep the themes and origins of all the characters with emotion that has you gripping your seat to the very end. Make no mistake that this film deserves a place on any respectable collectors shelf. If you buy the DVD/BluRay you will be treated to a bonus exclusive 15 minute epilogue episode not seen on the original Machinima channel release along with many behind the scene extras to tie you over until Season 2 (Street Fighter World Warrior) that launches late 2015/Early 2016. SFAF is produced by Jaqueline Quella and Co produced by Mark Wooding. Happy Street Fighting and happy are those who will own this film.

We all love a really good fist
The media could not be loaded. Since I knew nothing of this series/movie before sticking the disc inside my PS3 I could only hope that would be better than the awful 1994 and the super-awful 2009 movie (which very few people know about). Live action has never been kind to Street Fighter, but Assassin's Fist wisely strips the expansive cast of characters down to a handful (let's be honest, Blanka and Vega/M. Bison/whatever are never going to look believable outside of animation) and focuses on their lives and motivation.Ryu and Ken train with their master Gokken in the lush Japanese forest and are forbidden to use Dark Hadou - a form of Ki which corrupts the soul. Gokken flashes back to his early life where his brother Goki submits to Dark Hadou and is banished from the dojo before retreating to the mountains and evolving into Akuma. Sounds thin, but the 156-minute run time allows the characters to really develop and breath at a more natural pace. Even without the Dark Hadou story this would be a fun film just watching Ryu and Ken train and interact. For a Street Fighter movie, for a video game movie, and even for ANY movie at all the depth of the characters and the connection to them is layered and meaningful. I was so surprised by how much they were able to pull off with such a small budget and cast. The locations and photography are beautiful, and it adds immeasurable production value. Assassin's Fist takes you to places that you don't normally see in movies and probably won't want to leave.I will admit that the episodic nature of it does kill the momentum a little bit with the multiple fade-out/fade-ins, but it's a small gripe and honestly the only one I can think of. Assassin's Fist stands along with the Street Fighter II V as the best incarnation of these characters and this universe. I urge all fans to check it out.The Blu-ray looks absolutely beautiful in 2.35:1 1080p. I suspect that it was shot in native 1.78:1 and cropped to a wider aspect ratio, so perhaps shooting anamorphic would be a logic step for the next installment, but it really, seriously looks wonderful. The Dolby TrueHD 2.0 sound is quiet yet immerses you in the story as it is never obnoxious or overdone. Extras are plentiful. The Steelbook looks very nice. The art cards inside also look pretty. great fun
At nearly 3 hours long, this feels like an epic! It's the story of Ken and Ryu, from the 'Street Fighter' video game universe, as they undergo their training in the rural mountains of Japan. We get to see how these two iconic characters learnt and mastered their skills. The story proceeds quite slowly, allowing for character development (especially as regards their teacher Goken, and his rival Akuma). Essentially, we witness Ken and Ryu train from being boys to becoming men. This film is edited together from a series of web-episodes. Here, it's presented in HD on Blu-ray - and the video and audio are perfect. I'm aware that this is intended as the first segment of a much broader saga - the next will focus on Guile and Chun-Li.This is the finest live-action adaptation of the video game characters ever. However, it's not quite as good as the gripping and dark take of the animated 'Street Fighter 2' movie from the mid-1990's.I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I feel that, having played the game for over 20 years, I know these characters. Yet, this film still seems fresh and exciting. If you enjoy the games, you'll enjoy this!

Must watch for fans
I watched this when it was released on the web as a series and I thought it was greatNow it is released as a feature and it works just as wellThis has been made with but a fraction of the budget of the Hollywood abominations, yet is better on every level, which is all down to one word:CommitmentEveryone involved in this is committed to producing what the fans want from a live action Street fighter and it really stands outGood acting, good action, good pacing all combine together to create a compelling feature

Hadouken!!
I was very speticle when purchasing this, I heard it was released ages ago but didn't want to be disappointed seeming I been a massive fan of street fighter since I was child I have all the films and series... However I finally purchased this to give it ago and from my point of view it's good they got ken and ryus friend ship slightly down to a t which could of been defined alittle more, I was impressed with how they pulled akuma off, was really impressive and the story is good, I would of gave it five stars but I believe this film is way too long hitting 2hr and about 45mins, it seemed to repeat a bunch of points it made already over and over again. When you thought the film was going somewhere all of a sudden it would stop and revert back to story telling. Very good tho considering this and the fact it's a big build up to something that never happens which I felt very dissapointed about, all though seeing 10,000 fists in action was pretty good and prob my favourite small fight in this film.If you love street fighter give this ago defo worth a watch if you got a few hours spare
