Made to last.
Very durable and lets my child (11th old) learn the process of building by following directions. Some of the options have taken us a few days as they r long tedious bulds. It creates one on one time with him and shows a end result of a mechanical structure that is impressive. Worth the money cause of how many different options there r. I would recommend keeping the case laying down on ground as much as possible to eliminate all the very tiny partly a to get mixed up if turned up like a briefcase. All parts r needed. if missing one perhaps like a rubber band that my boys says it didn't come with 5 but only 4 (lol). Found later under his bed. Keep track of all parts cause that very tiny rubber washer that u find on the floor when vacuuming, u will need it when u get to a "step 32" on a Saturday afternoon. Haha

Construction sets, STEM Education Toys help build all skills!
A Christmas gift for my grandson, 10 years old. Every year I have gotten him building sets in several categories. He was excited about Erector, and right away asked his father if they could build it together. I always tell him that his success at constructing at his age shows he is good at math and science and that he can build anything. His eyes light up at the confidence I have tried to instill. This type of construction set helps in all the skills a young lad needs.

Great product
Tons of small peices. I knew what to expect in this product but they seem smaller than I remember. Great product but my aging eyes did not like the nuts and bolts

Great gift for kids!
Bought for my 8 year old son. It’s a bit challenging for the age but he got the hang of it after a couple of hours due to the instructions not being clear enough for that age. Other than that, this is an amazing gift which will have your child very focused and using their brains.

Great toy that challenges young minds and builds skill sets much more than a video game can
If you get this for your kids they may actually learn how to use a screw driver and a wrench. An erector set builds ability to visualize in 3-D and facilitates an understanding of mechanical engineering principals, this can foster a real hands on career thru developing a child's interest in structures and machines.

Nice set but with some problems
I bought this to build with my 7 year old. Given a choice of any project, she leapt right to the crane (of course!), and we set about building it from time to time, when the mood hit us.For the most part, the instructions are ok - they are not always clear, but all the information is there. It is annoying to look up each screw instead of using the code they give them (so, instead of having a way to determine if a screw is 28 mm or 1 1/4" or number 8, the gauge says it's a " 111E" and you have to consult a table to know which is which).Anyway, we arrived near the end of what was a lot of work (and be warned - sometimes it is very difficult to put talk the pieces together. Nothing to do with machining or anything, it's just really, really tight), and as we installed the crane arm or boom or whatever, we realized that we did not have some of the spacers they were calling for. We filled in with some spares of other colors and realized we could use a couple that were slightly bigger than what was called for, but that's frustrating for a kid. Throw in a few extras! The kicker, though, is that the switch only works on one direction, so while we can get the crane to pick things up, we have to manually lower everything again. I'll eventually make a switch/controller to replace this sad excuse for a switch, but in the mean time, it's very annoying.I opened up the switch to see what was going on, and it seems the little tabs used to activate the direction have scratched through the (very thin) channels on the PCB.On the other hand, we got it to pick up some rather heavy items, and it was a great learning experience for my daughter (as will fixing this poor excuse for a switch).Docked one star for this switch problem and one for making the instructions a bit too annoying and the construction a bit too tricky.
