Men's Paradigm 8 Road Running Shoe

I switched from Brooks Adrenalines to this shoe because my big toe was being pinched into the second toe, causing calluses and pain. I love the wide toe box on the Altra. I was able to go down one shoe size because on the Adrenalines I was compensating for the pointy toes. The Altra zero drop design is also more comfortable for me. I use these shoes for walking since my knees don't appreciate running any more. I walk about 5 miles a day with my dog on sidewalks and gravel paths and these shoes are very comfortable. I've tried a couple of other Altra models and this one is the best fit -- the Torin heel area comes up too high and causes pain on my outer ankle; the Lone Peak forefoot buckled when I bent my foot. I'm happy with the black color and am on my third pair now. I can wear them for about 6 months, which is probably 900 miles of walking.

The Paradigm 7's were fantastic. The stabilization, the fit, the comfort, really everything was spot on. My only item I wished for was more cushion for my long runs. Along came the Paradigm 8, and my wish came true. The previous version my feet would start to feel some fatigue as I creeped into the 16 mile plus range, but the new 8's, no longer an issue. I am now on my third pair, and the fit is spot on every time, comfort is fantastic, and they aren't getting old yet. If you need the zero drop, and you are looking for all day walking comfort, or long run comfort, these are fantastic.

Great shoes. True to size. If you have foot issues these are the shoes fir you.

I usually buy 8.5 or 43 eu and this fit perfectly for me. I have been running with these feel incredibly stable. Shoes are lightweight and very comfortable. Also I love the color palette, it's very discreet.

Exceptional. I’ve been dealing with finding the right shoe for quite a while. I have extra wide feet and so getting the right fit with the best support is hard to come by. These shoes are it. The wide toe box and extra support in the shoe are what I’ve been looking for. They’re lightweight and have plenty of cushion. Altra as a whole has been supremely durable for me, which is saying a lot because I’m a big guy who is hard on shoes. I’ve never quite had a shoe that felt roomy and streamlined all at the same time but Altra has pulled it off. 11/10… 6 stars… highly recommend and would buy again in a heartbeat.

There are two things I didn’t like (ymmv): 1) the sole is soft and mushy, not what I’d expect from stability shoes, and the instability is even worse because of the zero toe drop, my foot kind of sinks into the sole in random places throughout my step. 2) they still felt too narrow in the midfoot even though I ordered a wide size.

I’ve got abnormally wide feet and deal with occasional foot pain so I’ve continued looking for the perfect shoe and perfect fit. These ALTRA Paradigm seem to be the closest I can find that will give me good cushioning and the appropriate width. For reference, I currently wear a Brooks 8 4E width and I've attached the photo to show that the sizes are pretty similar. Even though this is a wide toe box shoe and I ordered the wide size, they still fit slightly tighter than the brooks 4E. It seems like it's really true to the 2E Width. I was hoping that it'd be a closer match. Key Features: • Comfort: (4/5) - solid amount of cushioning but not as much as some other brands • Fit: (5/5) - true to size; the wide toe box provides slightly more room. Bottom line: Excellent running/walking shoe with very good cushioning that fits true to size (considering the additional wide toe box).
