This is the second of these I have had. The first lost the #1 USB input channel and eventually the output HDMI failed. I looked around to see who else made an affordable 4-way KVM and found there wasn't a lot.So I bit the bullet and bought the next generation of the same model. Moving to USB3 it hurts to discard perfectly good USB2 cables. Also the power supply has changed from 5v to 12v.However, all cabled up, it works well straight out of the box, supporting my wireless mouse and keyboard with a USB3 hub on the rear and the ability to plug in extra things USB on the front I didn't have before. The hotkeys are the same and switching is easy and rapid.I like this device overall, now lets see how long it lasts under daily work use.

About 2 minutes to connect up and get working; first day of use and it seems fine. Takes about 2 - 3 seconds to switch which is OK for my requirements which is to switch between a work and home laptop. The good thing is that the two input cable pairs are supplied. There is no battery supplied with the remote so I spent more time searching my garage for a CR2025 than it did to set the KVM swith up.Audio is fine too but I not tried hot keys yet (I'm not sure I will need to)All in all it seems a good buy, not the cheapest but but a fair price for me.I will provide an update if I have any future problems.

Using this product to link up a gaming laptop, work laptop and Linux server. All well and good, but typing is a hit and miss affair, with youhaving to watch for missed key presses (yes, I did press the space key in between you and having) and lost devices (the linux server apparently doesn't exist according to the KVM).I've had to disconnect and reconnect the work laptop so that the keyboard is recognised after switching away from it and the gaming laptop occasionally loses the mouse.I've only had this connected for a cuple of days (yes, that was a missed key press as well) so I'mgoing (missed spce there and the 'a' too) to persevere with it, but if I still have mised key presses (yes, I was watching as the 's' didn't appear), I will return andreplace with a different brand.Now it has completely lost the gaming laptop connection. Returning and replacing with a different brand.

First of all, this switch is rather well-built and having the remote control can be very handy for some use cases.It only has *3* USB ports for peripherals though and 2 of them are reserved for mouse+keyboard. These slots will not work for some peripherals, like a webcam, and need to be used if want the keyboard shortcut/gesture features.While 1 generic USB port is mostly reasonable, any "unusual" keyboard signals might not work through the dedicated keyboard slot (such as playback/volume controls), which is important if you have media keys, macro keys or a programmable (mechanical/gamer) type of keyboard.This effectively means that if you have an advanced/unusual keyboard and want to retain its features, you need to use it on the generic slot and basically only have the dedicated mouse+keyboard USB slots for your mouse, that may not work for other kinds of devices.So, for some cases this switch needs to be coupled with a 3/4 slot USB hub in its generic slot in order to be flexible enough, so be advised. If it had 2-3 generic slots it would have been much better as you wouldn't need an extra device and extra cables.

For reliability and functionality this KVM is hard to beat!Several very useful features:- two exteral USB 3 ports enabling reliable sharing of high bandwidth devices such as webcams and sound devices;- integrated stereo audio-out socket that allows connection of headphones or other audio devices. This is very useful as it allows connection of an XBox or Playstation as a external device and the sound to be output as a feed from the HDMI input;- chunky remote control unit that enables easy switching between inputs;- included integrated USB and HDMI cables.This is my second TESmart KVM device (I upgraded from an old USB 2 TESmart KVM) and I am very impressed with the quality of the build, the overall design and above all the reliability and stability.

This is a nice KVM switch, bought to replace an older TESmart 4-port 4K KVM switch that has been slowly dying for a year or so (had to replace the never-used power switch, and eventually it lost 2 of the 4 channels). I'm not totally sure what the need for USB 3 is for a mouse and a keyboard, but I guess it's cool.It came with a set of 4 integrated cable sets which was nice, although they are a little short. I'm a bit disappointed that it doesn't have any mounting options though - the old ones had ears with screwholes, so it could screw to the back of my desk. At least some keyholes in the bottom would be good.Edit: came back to take a star off, since the keyboard is dropping keystrokes (especially spaces) and the mouse is dropping clicks. Both work fine connected directly. In general, I likethe product, but I think I will probably return it, now.

Even as an IT professional, this was so simple to set up. It's essentially just plug and play.

I have purchased 2 of these, the first ‘failed’ so I bought a second which ‘failed’ aswell.However it wasn’t the switch - which is EXCELLENT - it was the cheap bundled power supply unit (PSU). I bought a new PSU and now both KVMs are working again because they never failed, the PSU did. Each lasted about a year of full 10-hour days (working from home).TESsmart should add a few pounds to the price and bundle a much better supply, however they don’t and given the way businesses cut silly corners for virtually no benefit to anyone, my advice is:buy this KVM switch with confidence and ALSO buy a 36w PSU which can deliver 5v; the KVM switch will only draw 2amps regardless of the amp rating of the PSU, but generally more amps allows the PSU to run cooler and last longer. Amazon have a good options for this in the £10-£15 price range.
