Q: How does the ball feeder work? Is there something that turns inside the basket or something else?

The ball feeder on my does not work and SKLZ customer service refuses to contact me for assistance as I have contacted them and they actually gave me a case number!

Q: does this come with any balls or do you jave to purchase them?

It comes with a dozen(12) balls. I believe the tube can hold 26. They sell additional balls separate by the dozen.

Q: can use this to practice grounders and flyballs?

I used it for my Little League team to work on their reactions to ground balls... but the little foam balls aren't for your usual ground ball practice. I set the kids up in front of a net... the machine shot the golfball-sized foam balls at the kids from about 20 feet... I had two buckets... one on each side of the net... one bucket was yellow.. one white... white balls were caught and transferred to the white bucket... yellow to the other side's bucket... teaching quick hands and quick decision making. ... you could launch pops with it... but you'd want them to catch bare-handed or with a quick-hands glove (or an oven mitt).
