Good Read!
The book "Swami and Friends" is a novel written by R.K. Narayan and published by Indian Thought Publication. Swami is a ten years old, and life for him consists mainly having adventures with his friends. His greatest passion is the M.C.C. - the Malgudi Cricket Club - which he founds together with his friends. This is far more than a simple narrative of Swami's adventures - charming and entertaining as they are. By the delicate use of detail sympathetically observed, the author establishes for us the child's world as the child himself sees it: and beyond, the adult community he will one day belong to - in Swami's case, the town of Malgudi.

Childhood revived !!
What a book !! Touch of genius by Mr. Narayan. Set in the setting of the British raj and the din of those times, he brings to life, a 10 ye old’s state of mind. His fun, his struggles , travails and friendships. Things at some basic level still remain the same till today. Must read for all ages. Specially 10yr olds and their dads 😉!

Swami and friends
This book took me back to my good old school days. We could witness all of these characters in our school life too. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this. Moreover felt like R.K.Narayan himself is speaking to us through the main protagonist Swami. This book always have a special bond because it arouses lot of memories to me. Suitable for people who want to read a light book. It was like reading a life of childhood innocence. One of the best books by popular Indian writer.

Time travelled back to the good old days. Storyline is simple yet hides a profound meaning behind every chapter. The book speaks about the strife of the characters... the place they live in.. and their struggles won and lost. A RK classic.

Although this book was published in the 1930's, the portrait of a child's experience remains timely in many ways. R.K. Narayan was a master at describing the inner life of a wide range of people. In this deceptively simply novel, he enters into a child's mind with great sensitivity and humor. The episode where Swami's father tries to help out with a fractions problem in Swami's math book made me laugh, because it so accurately reflected the terrifying and mystifying experiences twenty-first century children have with the very same subject.
