TASTEI was fortunate enough to be able to review the chocolate flavor. I'm not a huge chocolate enthusiast. However, I do enjoy the taste of chocolate, especially in the form of chocolate milk. This whey protein was not as good as chocolate milk, however, for a chocolate whey protein it did taste pretty good and was quite satisfying. More importantly, it contains very little sugar or fat, which is good news!Good enough so that I looked forward to drinking it as a form of desert. Therefore, flavor wise, I award Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey Protein a score of 7.5/10.MIXABILITY/TEXTUREAlthough I blended this whey protein, rather than using a shaker, I only did so for a few short seconds and it was good to go. However, most other protein powders I've tried have taken longer. Therefore, mixability/texture wise, I award Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey Protein a score of 8/10.EFFECTIVENESSWheyAs with any protein supplement review, it is difficult to evaluate the overall effectiveness of the product. The reason is, unlike creatine and pre-workout amplifiers there is no immediately noticeable effect.The purpose of protein is to either get extra calories in your diet or to be used as a meal-replacement when you're in a rush. Also, protein supplementation may be used in place of an unhealthy meal, which would be detrimental to an individual seeking an improved physique.Since I began working out, protein shakes have been a part of my daily diet. The convenience of a protein shake is too good not to take advantage of.OVERALL REVIEWI have failed to find an Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey Protein that didn't taste good; I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every flavor. Also, the flavors I have tried are; vanilla, chocolate and cookies n' cream.Furthermore, this whey protein has a high protein content per scoop. More importantly, it has ingredients that blow away most of the other competition. Most notably, this whey protein has low fat, low sugar and high protein per scoop.Other than a taste which is good but not quite perfect, I am unable to find many negatives associated with it. Therefore, in light of all of this, I award Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey Protein an overall score of 9/10.

I stand by this brand because I know it's a solid brand. One of the biggest things to me is that they have their protein powders tested for banned substances. I know some other protein powder brands fail in the metals level area, but this one doesn't have more than a normal food would (e.g., spinach).It's always been easy mixing this properly, whether it be in water, milk, almond milk, a shake, with other powders, oatmeal, pancake batter, etc.Flavor wise, the coffee (or coffee-ish) flavors and vanilla flavor are my favorites. The chocolate mint is pretty decent, but don't expect a strong mint flavor. Though I think a bit more mint would be nice, I do think there's a fine line between "just enough mint" and "too much mint" so maybe they were erring on the side of caution. It makes it easier to balance this with other protein shake add-ins anyway, so I'm not complaining.Overall, this is my go-to protein powder brand because I can trust it. Just wait for the sales. Put several flavors that appeal to you on your wish list, and watch them. The best value is, of course, the 5-pound bottles.Another plus about buying it on here is that it still comes in the giant jugs. There are other places that sell it in bag form, but I feel like something like a powder is easiest in a jug.
