If you don’t like ticks, then look into tick tubes
After a Lyme scare, these Thermacell Tubes became a must-have. Even with professional landscaping, backing up to wild New England woods means ticks are a constant battle. Here is the quick breakdown: • How they work: Mice, bunnies, chipmunks (the main tick hosts) take the permethrin-treated cotton for their nests, killing ticks in their dens before they reach your grass. • The Schedule: Use them twice a year—once in late spring and again in late summer—to hit both breeding cycles. The cardboard tubes don't fully break down after a year. I usually do a quick sweep to pick up the old leftovers before putting the fresh ones out. I just scatter them along the property line. It’s a low-effort, targeted way to get peace of mind where sprays can’t reach.

Major reduction in ticks, hopefully due to these tubes?
Our yard was overrun with ticks. As in, my kids were forbidden to walk on the grass. A short walk from one end of the yard to the other and you'd have no less than 7 or 8 ticks. I refuse to choose between living with toxic chemicals living in my lawn or the ticks, but I was getting pretty desperate. Thankfully I found these tubes which (I think) are working. We have just over an acre in a rural setting with woods lining one side of our property. At the end of the summer I purchased the 24 pack and placed them throughout our property, along the woods, mostly areas that looked like a critter would hang out. This spring I have noticed a SIGNIFICANT reduction in ticks, as in we've only had two ticks so far, and I've actually been allowing my kids to play in the grass. I honestly didn't think they would work, especially since not all of the cotton was taken from all of the tubes, but these are the only difference between this year and last year. I just purchased another box of 24 and set them out today. I say it's worth a try!!

Really works
I've been using these for 4 years now. The first year I moved here, my babysitter wouldn't take my kids out in the yard to play because she said she could literally see ticks jumping. Every time I would go out to garden I would come inside with at least one tick on me. After I put these around my yard, we had literally zero ticks on us. Every spring when I go out early to get the garden ready, I might end up with a tick or two, but as soon as I put these out, I know the kids can go out and play. Definitely try these out if you have ticks or are worried about them. They're literally so easy to use, just take them out of the box and place them in your yard - each tube is about the size of a toilet paper roll. And that's it.

Works but why the 50% price increase?
These work and we like them, but the price has gone up by 50% since I last bought them last fall, for no apparent reason! Not sure we will continue to use them.

Here’s the deer and one of the ticks I pulled off me. Now no more ticks.
We live in a wooded area where deer come and eat my flowers, especially my Hostas. I even saw one deer laying down in my back yard one evening. A couple months ago I was finding and taking off at least 1 deer tick a week. For some reason the ticks seem to love me. I purchased enough of these tubes to do our half acre. Within two weeks I have not found even 1 tick on me. I noticed that some of the cotton is gone from the tubes also. This will now be my go to product twice every year.

Can’t Hurt To Try ‘Em
Chucked a bunch in surrounding woods. Ticks suck, literally, so it can’t hurt to try. The camouflage makes them disappear and the cardboard will probably break down in a few years so it’s a one-and-done. Maybe the field mice will appreciate it at least.
