Despite the fact it calls this 'gold' it is actually a beautiful copper color, which I loved. It is ridiculously heavy, which is a great thing!!! This type of dress shouldn't be light! Look at all those beautiful layers!! It's what makes the dress look fantastic! It's what you paid for!!The dress fit me perfectly on the bottom, but the top/jacket part needed to be taken in to look just right on me. I was able to do it myself, but a real tailor would have been horrified!Like everyone else, the dress was way too long. But with my amateur sewing experience I was able to take off the bottom row of ruffles and move it up to be a new top row. (I know this sounds really difficult, but the way this dress is designed covered up all my lousy cutting and stitching)Also be prepared to iron! Mine came wrinkled to death and required two hours of ironing! But it was so worth it!The most important part of making this dress look good, however, is getting the right underwear. No I'm serious! Without the crinoline/bustle the back will hang down and drag on the ground no matter how much you adjust the hem. You need the one that is flat in front and makes your butt bigger! A princess like Bell hoop skirt will make it sit all wrong! Avoid! And you should also probably have a corset to get the top to lay just right and give you the hourglass and 's' shape that the victorians loved.I loved this dress so much and got so many compliments!If you're curious about accuracy, which I researched to death. This fits really well in the late Victorian era I was aiming for. The time of Sherlock Holmes and Jack the Ripper. Having a dress with long sleeves and a low top was slightly out of the norm, but they honestly have one just like it in the Met. So I was very happily surprised.I would buy from this company again!tldr: This dress can look spectacular! if you're willing to alter it to your body shape and wear the right underwear.

Material great beautiful costume … so I am 5 ft tall 144lbs chest 36d. Normally I wear sz m tops size 6 jeans I ordered this theee times to get the correct size large was tight xxl too big so the XL worked .. skirt fit perfect just long as I’m 5 feet tall .. top was wide chest got fine waist to big so I’ll have some one alter it for me so definitely had to go up a coupe sizes.

I ordered this gown and sent in my measurements to have it custom fit. I am 5‘10“ tall so the length of the gown and the sleeves would have undoubtedly been too short otherwise. The dress took quite some time to arrive…well over a month. I was disappointed when I received it and discovered that it was at least two sizes too large, and rather than being gold as depicted in the listing photo, it was bronze colored. By the time it arrived, our Halloween party was just over a week away. I reached out to the seller and sent a photo of myself wearing the gown, which was clearly huge on me. I was in a panic because I had already bought accessories to wear with the dress, including a parasol, a hat, lace gloves, bustle skirt and corset. The seller immediately refunded the full amount of the gown. Amazingly, I was able to find a seamstress to take the gown apart and reassemble it to my proportions. It cost almost as much as I paid for the dress, but it was worth it. I received many, many compliments all night long. It is super important to remember if you purchase this gown that you absolutely MUST also purchase a bustle slip to wear underneath of it, otherwise it will not hang properly at all and will not look historically accurate. A good corset is also a must. Make sure you order in plenty of time… I would say at least two months before you plan to wear it. You will also need to steam the heck out of it because it arrived covered with wrinkles. All of that said, the seller was truly wonderful to work with and definitely made it right with me. I will undoubtedly order from her again and give her my highest recommendation.

I ordered this dress for an upcoming event. I am a very picky seamstress but just didn't have time to make a new gown. I was skeptical when I ordered it but upon receiving it I was astounded at what good quality and workmanship went into this dress for the price. The pleats, the lace and the fit was perfect. I did spend quite a bit of time pressing all the pleats and everything else, but it was worth it. I would recommend wearing a proper corset and bustle petticoat with it to give it the proper Victorian silhouette. I love it and I ordered another style from the same seller and love it too.

Although the color is gorgeous what I received is NOTHING like the picture. The collar is overly long and had multiple layers that didn’t lay right. There were far fewer buttons and the sizing was very mismatched. Big across the chest but tight across the abdomen.Not worth the money and very disappointing.

Received / returning for highly desirable exchange / too large. Normally a X-large. Skirt waist is three inches too large and top is the same. 'Gorgeous beyond words' is the best way to describe this gown. Absolutely worth every dime.

The media could not be loaded. The colour is a deep chocolate brown I was disappointed the second I opened the bag. I was expecting the gold like in the picture and it is not that. They style is gorgeous though, it’s a little large in the shoulders and arms but that’s it and that can be altered easily. Honestly if the colour was like in the picture this dress would be lovely. The shipping also was delayed on my order :(
