Sure Victron Energy cables are not cheap, but then when to attempt to make one you really don't save much. Life is too short to mess around making items that simply work out of the box. Go with the cable you need for RELIABLE VE.Connect communications.

Works fine, very expensive for what you get
-1 star for value. Works great, but a ripoff for a piece of wire. However, you don't have a choice if you want to connect the various victron products. It would be nice if victron could engineer their devices with rj45 utp or supplied their already pricey devices with cables. Interestingly, some connections between their products ARE utp.

Gotta have them
If you have any Victron Energy equipment with VE Direct, these cables are a must have to connect to a Cerbo GX or other devices. These cables allow each device to communicate with each other, and report their current state. You can then keep an eye on your system which is highly configurable and flexible. They are not expensive, and are the link to making your Victron Energy equipment do their thing. For being such a small thing like a cable, they are that little extra that makes it all work. Get em. 5 stars from me.
