Is there any way to connect to plastic pipe?

Yes it does. Mines conected to plastic pipes, everything works fine as well.

Exactly how do you fit this to the white waste pipe? Have you connected to 32mm or 40mm and was it compression or solvent weld pipe?

The new waste trap came with a rubber insert. The chrome pipe sits inside a straight or elbowed 32 mm plastic pipe connector. It’s a good fit and I have had no leaks.

Is it the UK standard? Anyone can tell does it fit?

Yes, all good. the universal blue washer will deal with all conversations and fits between 32mm up to 40mm
