Professor Astro Cat's Space Rockets

Lovely book for kids
This is a really lovely book. It's got some great information, yet it is presented in a fun way. I love the drawings (we are cat lovers in this house).I think this can be for a younger child, maybe even as young as 3 or 4. My son is 7, and I wish I had seen this book much sooner. Nevertheless he liked the book. He read it on his own and then wanted us to read it together. He learned some things he didn't know yet (he loves to learn about space and rockets and space flight). it has a nice timeline and the interest in going to space. It goes back and talks about the mission to the moon, and explains the different stages; it does it in a fairly easily understood way, so it's not too technical. I thought it was age appropriate. Mentions the first man in space (Gagarin), and all the different space shuttles and how many successful missions to space they had, and how these are not used anymore, etc. It is really informative and definitely worth getting if space/rockets is something your kid is into.Having fun cat drawings is a plus :)I will buy another one for my younger nephew.

Too many inaccuracies and oversimplifications
While the writing and illustrations are cute, the book has an annoying number of inaccuracies that make it painful to read. For example, it says "The space shuttle had a massive rocket to get it into space. After it launched the rocket fell away, and the shuttle could fly with its own engines." Associated with this is an illustration of rocket engine on the external tank. As another example, the book refers to the Saturn V as Apollo 11. There are similar inaccuracies around the Artemis program. While these may be oversimplifications and children like the illustrations, this creates confusion when reading other books on space that are more accurate.

Useful for rocket loving child
This one is popular with a two-three year old and the parents say they learned a few things. Not all of these cat books are useful, some too hard. The cat illustrations are flat, not very helpful but it’s on par with other kid books. Good idea to be serious about science, kids really want to learn.
