What's the needle's gauge, or diameter? Not the length.

There's no gauge listed on the paperwork. However it is a nice heavy needle. I trusted up a 23 pound turkey last Thanksgiving and it pushed through the skin like butter!

Can i wrap this around a whole hog?

Great for Thanksgiving turkey!

Bought this for a turkey and it worked awesome!! Pierces very well and the eye hole is large and very easy to thread the twine through it.

Needle to large for purpose

The needle and twine looks fine, but I needed the needle to sew a deboned chicken. On looking at the needle received I think it is too large and will damage the chicken so I will not use. I will however use the twine. I gave a 4 star because I think it might be fit to use on a less delicate item like probably a turkey or other meats.
