Garbage
I can't tell you how disappointed I am in the reviews Amazon shopper gave these skates. It's like somebody planted bogus reviews. These skates are so incredibly cheap, I can't imagine anyone enjoying using them. Maybe that's it -- most people don't use their roller blades beyond the first week after Christmas. So they have no idea how terrible they are! There are many things about these skates that make them terrible, but the biggest of all is the wheels/bearings. You have to turn the wheels with considerable effort to make them move. Most roller blade wheels spin for some time after you turn them with your hand. Not these!!! They never spin freely at all! How can anyone make skates whose wheels don't even spin? Those aren't skates -- they're more like shoes with wheels glued to the bottom!Seriously, I usually appreciate the feedback that people give here on Amazon. But these reviews (at the time of my writing they stand at an average 4.5 stars) are WAY out of line. One star is being generous and I wish there was a way to give less.

Cheap price for a skate but flawed design
Just recently bought this for my daughter. After using it she complained about it being uncomfortable on the ankle. I told her that it probably needs to be broken in. In any case I was doing some more research into inline skates as I was thinking about getting the boys model of this for one of my boys. One review stuck out that mentioned that their child complained about it bothering their ankle as well, which made me wonder if there was something wrong about these. I took a look and compared the plastic structure of this skate to a bladerunner skate and noticed that on the inside where the red rivet is, there is a strip of plastic that makes that area stick out higher from the rest of the plastic boot. On the Bladerunner, there is a rivet there (needed to help allow the skate to flex) but the area the rivet goes into on the inside of the skate is a single piece of plastic (i.e. it is flush and does not stick out further then the rest of the boot). This flaw in design in the Roller Derby is what seems to be causing the discomfort at the ankle. As the skate is used and we tossed out the box we are stuck with these, but I think you should understand before buying that this skate is that you get what you pay for. In this case you are getting a flawed design. The attached photos try to show what I am attempting to explain. The black skate (the Bladrunner Phoenix one) the plastic part marked A is a single plastic piece that goes all around the back part of the foot and the rivet goes through that. The white skate (the Roller Derby) B is the plastic part that goes around the back of the foot, and A is another piece of plastic that goes on top of it where the rivet is. This piece of plastic that is raised from the boot is what presses into the ankle area. Also notice the rivet is holding a washer that is wider then the plastic strip there, which is another thing to press into the ankle. Compare to the black skate the rivet there is flush with the plastic shell (sorry, was harder to get a picture of the inside of the Bladerunner). If I ever get a rivet gun, maybe I would remove the rivet holding the plastic strip (A) on the skate and would place that plastic strip between the bottom and upper piece of plastic which would ensure that the area against the lower part of the foot up past the ankle is smooth and has no unnatural raised areas. Not sure why the folks making this did not think of this.

SIzing help please
Can anyone who has previously purchased these skates help me with the sizing of the rollerblades? My niece is 10 years old and wears a size 1 shoe. What size skate does she need, Medium? Large? I know they are adjustable, but I don't think Amazon or Roller Derby's website gives a conversion chart. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

My 7 years old love and learned how to roller blade on these skates ...
My 7 years old love and learned how to roller blade on these skates (I got medium, her current shoe size is 1). I am buying another one for my 4 year old to learn.Personally, I do not know how to skate. Some reviewer were talking about bad tech, lack rolling continuity. For me, since my 7 year old was able to learn how to skate all by herself in two weeks on our wooden floor and had a blast in the ring a month after her first trying them on, I think that is great. If wheels don't roll well, to me, that is actually GREAT for beginner! :) To be honest, she really didn't fall much (maybe twice in 2 weeks), but she is a passive, reserve kid, more careful than most. Now days, she is falling more because she is playing chase with her sister on skate. (rolling my eyes... kids, too bad they are not someone else kids). lol...

Absolute waste of money
These skates are garbage. Understandably there not going to be pro quality but the wheel bearing were not even greased. I spent 45mins taking the wheels off and squirting liquid wrench into the bearings ti get them to spin. They were frozen and the wheels only rotated now they spin somewhat. I ordered wheels to replace these but looking at the quality overall. They're really a waste of money. If I hadn't already given them to my daughter I would have sent themback

Ouch! Hurts young ones ankles.
Ouch! These skates would be great for beginners BUT the rivets along with the plastic strap inside causes pressure on the ankles. The pain from these skates brought my daughter to tears and has ruined her experience with skating. DO NOT BUY!

These skates are not worth the money. The wheels ...
These skates are not worth the money. The wheels hardly spun and the brake was too low causing it to drag on the ground. I returned the skates.
