Q: If you connect it to a timer, does it turn on with just the power coming back on?

Don't think this will work because it has a switch that works with the touch of your hand at different levels of light. Hope this helps.

Q: Will it work if i close my eyes?

No. When you close your eyes it detects it and turns itself off. It will turn itself back on when you open your eyes. Blinking can trip it up.

Q: Is there a distance or angle I should set this? I feel like the light hurts my eyes even when it's further away and angled toward me

John, I have used my lamp for over a year. It seems to help with mood. I use it at my desk. I have it at eye level, about three feet away, and angled toward me. It has three intensities, I use the middle one. Jack
