Q: Is this a leave in conditioner?

It says it is but beware. It is not a spray. It is a thick heavy cream. I do not consider it "leave in" as it made my hair very heavy and flat. You can dilute it with a lot of water to help.

Q: how do you open the pump?

Hi there! The item pump valve twists to unlock and you must pump a few times to release the air pressure until the content rises to the top. I hope this helps! Best,
