It reminds us, too, of what would be lost should the world allow the cultures, knowledge, languages, and philosophies depicted in this wonderful book to fade away. One negative: the accompanying text - not by Jimmy Nelson - is insipid, unengaging and superficial.

the book turned up 3 days earlier. what can i say. its a magnificent book. the care and thought that went into it are amazing. i understand that if you have a smart phone and i dont. that you can get on an app. and you will be able to see the travel stories along the way. and just how difficult it was to reach these tribes. as i said a very heavy book lol 5.5 kilos. but boy its worth the lifting just to sit and take in the beautiful pictures.this is a book to keep for your grand children. a lot of these tribes will maybe not there maybe in their time.

The beautiful presentation of the book in solid hardback, the photographs. I think it is a book every library, school & university should have. If you are curious about humanity & the planet we live on then your whole family will treasure this book & return to it over & over again.

This book is absolutely stunning ...The app is amazing as when you scan a photo you get fabulous extra videos and back stories ..

Jimmy Nelson work is fabulous, it was a great undertaking to capture these photos of all the culture from these various tribes that is on the verge of extinction. The western world is changing these cultures and they will be lost forever, so it so great to seem them in this outstanding book of photography.

Looking at the photos, reading the text has immediately widened my visual and human world. This most humane, adventurous and caring book brought tears to my eyes. Powerful photographs, one after the other; careful interviews with the subjects, who look right back at us. The colors, the complexity and beauty of their lives is inspiring. I'd learned about the book from NPR's interview with Jimmy Nelson, as exciting,moving and nuanced a discussion as those that we find in the book. My grandsons immediately were drawn in to look, read and marvel. What a gift! Thank you!
