Great Tilt Tolerance, Easy to Read, Bungie is Best
I bought this compass July 2023 and used it for about 6 dives in a Virginia scuba park. The compass card rotated freely throughout all the dives and was easy to read, so it was able to help me navigate back to the dock through murky water. The card glowed pretty brightly after shining my dive light on it, but for less than a minute. However, as a rec diver, I doubt that I'm going to use the compass in water dark enough to obscure the card. This model of the SK-8 uses a bungie/shock cord, instead of a strap. Now, both are going to break. It's inevitable. Shock cord is inexpensive, easy to find, and replace in the compass. Good luck finding a replacement strap. The cord keeps the compass relatively snug against my wrist, even at 30 feet deep when my wetsuit is compressed. But a wrist strap becomes loose at that depth and has to be tightened, which led me to switch to a cord on my dive computer, as well.

Damn sexy compass
I bought a cheap compass, it worked but it had to be perfectly flat and ended up being fairly useless underwater. So I bought what should have been my one and only consideration: The Suunto SK-8. Damn... this compass is sexy. I sat in my office chair spinning in circles watching it perfectly track north. I hold it in my hand twisting it around while the compass card remains motionless. I love this compass. Underwater it is easy to read. I love that the view port on the side is nice and big. I now feel confident that my compass is leading me in the right direction. My one and only wish: I wish it glowed brighter and more evenly in the dark. On a night dive I need to use my light to read it. Very minor overall.

It's all plastic. All of it. Feels like a child's toy
No. Just no. Bought two, both going back. This is life support equipment. It should be taken seriously. I'll pay for quality. But it didn't even have a glass lense. Awful. Joke. How does it have 5 stars?????????

Most Popular Dive Compass
Holds bearing through +/- 10 degree tilt, so doesn't need to be held absolutely flat. Sturdy construction. Band has extra length, should go around thick wetsuit and glove.

Finding your way
This compass goes on my console of my regulator. The compass works great. This is the fifth one I have had. Since my pressure gauge is Suunto, it is the only compass that will fit. After 2 - 3 years, the compass will start to leak. Once the bubble starts to develop in the compass, it will only get bigger until the compass will not function properly. Be prepared to replace in a few years.

Best SCUBA Compass
Absolutely the best SCUBA compass I have owned. These ate pricy compared to other compasses but in this case you get what you pay for. I have used the SK7 for years and loved it then recently bought this SK8 after losing my SK7. Great quality and would buy again.

Lightweight and functional
The compass functions well and orients in an appreciable time. Good marks here. It is sold as a depth gauge as well, but there is no functionality in this regards. The photos were initially thought to be somewhat misleading. They were not. THERE IS NO DEPTH GAUGE. The wrist strap is awkward. A disappointing product for Suunto, but otherwise the compass does its job.
