ROOGU Old English Series 3.5'' Staunton - Chess Figures Set

This is a really nice chess set, beautifully made high quality weighted pieces. Classic styling and perfect playing size (3.5 inch king). The pieces are all in correct proportion to each other (lots of very expensive sets get this wrong). I have a number of very nice sets, some quite expensive and exquisitely made, but they are not sets that are good to use on a daily basis. Club players probably use plastic sets most of the time and like me have nice sets at home. This is a really nice set that is both practical and good to look at. Another really nice set that is both beautiful and functional is the Paul Morphy set, again with a 3.5 inch king. Neither of these sets are really expensive as chess sets go and are well worth the money (paid around £70 each).

Lovely aesthetics, nicely weighted and felted and with a spare pair of queens, the set fits perfectly on a board with 5cm squares. A wooden storage box would have been nice, but I'll have to look elsewhere for that. The turning and carving is lovely, creating a first class, traditional Staunton pattern set. It's worth the price if you appreciate the feel and appearance of the pieces.
