I BOUGHT THIS BECAUSE I DO A LOT OF NOTE TAKING ON THE HOOF. IT WORKS WELL. FOR THAT PURPOSE. iTS ALSO GOOD FOR RECORDING PHONE CALLES, IF YOUR PHONE HAS A SPEAKERPHONE FUNTION. OF COURSE YOU MUSHAVE THE CONSENT OF THE PERSON YU ARE CALLING TO DO THIS TO MAKE IT LEGAL. I FIND, PARTICULARLY WHERE CALL;S ARE ABOUT TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS/SPECIFICATIONS/DETAILS THIS IS VERY USEFUL.

Very good sound quality

I have owned a number of voice recorders in my time which I have used for work. Only one of these has been an Olympus. The rest have been mostly low end note takers.This time around I was looking for a "proper" dictation machine and settled on the DS2600. I have to say I was not disappointed.The first thing I would say is this does not have all the bells and whistles that you see on some recorders but this is actually a positive. This machine is purely designed to record your dictation in the simplest way possible. My only concern when I took it it out of the box that it was plastic. But it is durable and very light. It is important to add that it also comes with a leather case which is really high quality and protects the unit.What it does do, which none of the cheaper recorders I have seen, is ability able to edit your dictation. You can rewind your recordings and insert audio saving you from adding an addendum to the end. This was really useful.In addition, it does not start a new file until you press the "new file" button which is great. The other recorders I have used create a new file whenever you stop the recording which is so frustrating. Why doesn't all recorders have this feature?!The DS2600 comes with 2GB built in but there is also a full size SD card slot in the top. I had a number of cards lying about at home with the biggest being 16GB which worked just fine. The file sizes are so small that you probably wouldn't need anything bigger than an 4GB. Much better that those that take Micro SD cards which I am forever losing.The slide switch on the side works just like one of those old style tape recorders. It takes a bit of time to get used to but one you do you can easily record, rewind and playback without looking at the machine which is great.The colour screen is really big and easy to read. It also shows the audio levels which I found really useful in meetings to ensure everyone was being recorded.The recording quality was really impressive for both personal recordings and meetings as the recorder has a stereo microphone. I was able to capture a meeting at work of four people and it was really clear.The included software is pretty straight forward. As soon as you connect the recorder the software opens and asks you whether you want to download. You don't need to use the software as the recorder is recognised as a USB hard drive so files can be dragged and dropped with ease.Once the recording are downloaded the date and time is shown as well as the file length which is really helpful. You can also playback the files on your PC.Although you can record in DSS, you can also record in MP3 or WAV. If you have recorded in the latter you can play back the files using windows media player so you don't even need to use the software.It also charges via USB from your PC. It comes with a rechargeable battery and it certainly seems to last. I used it all week before it needed to be charged up again. You can also use an third party AC Adapter but you need to check although I was able to use my iPad AC Adapter.In conclusion, if you are doing a lot of recording on a day to day basis, this is a much better option that the cheap and cheerful recorders that you can buy. It almost lost a star because of the plastic finish but is great in almost every other way. Recommended.

Item was faulty on receipt and would not charge. Followed Amazon’s instructions on return in good faith. Fuzion redunded cost of item but refused to refund £8 postage costs on faulty item. Accused me of being incorrect claiming item fine and changed “faulty item” status of my order to “no longer needed” on my return without my knowledge, avoiding refunding postage costs to me and claiming they had to repackage product, which was returned to them, just as I had received it - in good condition. Filing an A-Z claim through Amazon. Will not buy with this company again!

Good dictaphone if DSS model is required. Very clear dictation.Very handy being able to charge the dictaphone as previous Olympus used to eat through batteries. However controls not so easy to use as previous model and reviewing dictation is painfully slow.

I bought this to replace an Olympus DS-2400 I had been using for 10 years.It is not as easy to use and is difficult to over/record or edit without the recording jumping around.They have tried to improve it b just made it worse.Sounds clear though.

I use it for legal advice dictation.The only problem is playback on the computer which does not appear to work.

Enregistrement parfaitement audible. Seul reproche, marche arrière un peu laborieuse. Excellente mémoire interne.

Haben das alte Gerät ca. 10 Jahre ohne Probleme täglich im Büro genutzt. Brauchten nun doch mal Ersatz… Wollten unbedingt das selbe haben, weil es immer zuverlässig war. Das Neue scheint genauso gut zu sein.

Pour l'utilisation que j'en fais, ce dictaphone est bien, facile d'utilisation, l'enregistrement de bonne qualité.Pour le DSS player standard, logiciel qui permet de lire sur l'ordinateur les enregistrements, c'est une version 2.1.0.0.

Cosa non mi e’ piaciuto Presto detto : non e’ chiaro, diversamente rispetto a quanto appare pubblicizzato, sopratutto nel video, che non esiste la possibilita’ di trascrizione automatica collegando il dittafono al PC o Mac . Ho acquistato il dispositivo ma ne’ col software in dotazione ne’ con altri acquistabili esiste questa possibilità e questo non mi pare corretto .
