In the past I have used another brand so I was reluctant to use this. Pleasantly surprised for the most part. "Brand B" tended to be more dense and took less application to get a serious surface, whereas this product is - as described - more of a "paint." It's okie, you just have to make some adjustments. The quality of run is best when applied heavily, and thinner coats are less likely to provide interesting effects. Again, its okie, as it provides a way to mix up the way you might use it. Finally, the size of the product is serious - more than enough to use, where "Brand B" was much smaller for the price and had to be used with real efficiency.

Alright I bought this product for some props I'm making for a frankenstein lab. It's a great product but there are some things you need to know. First of all the Smell of this paint is unbelievably bad. I had to wear a respirator to use it and not get sick, but it goes away after a day. Flow the instructions to a T two coats of their primer, two coats of their paint and two but only to sprays of their activator. I hung my prop and let the activator drip onto plastic which gave it a nice water washed rusted look. After it rusts be very carful handling it as your finger can wear off the rust. I didn't know that. You should apply two coats of their clear sealer before handling whatever you use this on. Overall I'm happy with the result but will do a few things differently the next time I use it.

It's pretty amazing stuff, paint it on, wait, spray the activator, and it leaves you with an amazing finish you can't duplicate with regular paints. Be warned though, at least the iron stuff, it, well, it smells really bad in the container. Imagine if someone put a combination of gas, and feces in a container, and charged you money to buy it. It smells so bad I had to have my wife smell it, and indeed, her wretching confirmed that I was not having a stroke and sensing phantom scents. I then had my oldest daughter smell it, mainly because I told her it smelled amazing, and she almost vomited. Five stars, provided me great entertainment for an evening.

I was working on a movie set building a thatch roofed hut made into a jail cell set (supposedly) in the Amazon rain forest. I needed rusty hinges, bolts and locks, but everything was built from new shiny hardware. The metal looked like a mirror surface. We needed rust yesterday and we were in Tennessee, not the tropics. I got a bottle of this Reactive Metallic Iron Paint about six o'clock one evening, painted all the visible metal with it and three hours later treated it with dilute acid to make it oxidize quickly. By noon the next day the metal had a patina of rust that looked like it had been building up from years of tropical heat and rain. The show must go on!
