This has become my go-to baby shower gift. It’s one of those things most new parents don’t think to put on their registry, but it ends up being one of the most useful items they get. I’ve had several friends tell me it saved them during stuffy nose season and they never knew how much they’d need it.It’s easy to use, super effective, and kind of a lifesaver when your baby is congested. If you are thinking to purchase or on the fence to buy this product I highly recommend it. I've had my nosefrida since March, 2012. I'm updating my review today merely to promote this great product. I am a mother of a 20 month and 5 month old boys. I always rave about it to friends and strangers who complain about not being able to clean their baby's noses out well. I use the device almost every day for my 5 month old son and occassionally for my older son when he's sick or sounds stuffed up. For reviewers who indicate they have difficulty getting the device to suck out the mucus must also know that you need to spray your baby's nose with baby saline spray first, wait a few seconds and then suck away. If your toddler or baby fidgets a lot, you can just wrap then in a bath towel and then just lay then down so their hands don't pull at the device. As your little ones get older just have them sit and then make it fun for them that you are cleaning out their noses. My older son usually doesn't like to get his nose cleaned when he has a cold but when I suck out the mucus and he can breathe, he smiles at me and stops crying immediately. My 5 month old son just lays there while I clean his nose and just smile. For the additional filters, I only change mine after a few months of use because it doesn't come into contact with the applicator and because I'm a clean/germ freak. I always wash my device with hot wot and soap after each use and then let it air dry. Once in a while, I will sanitize with rubbing alcohol and rinse with water afterwards. If the tip of the device has mucus stuck in there, stick a wet cotton swab in the hole and just wipe around. I'm happy to say that neither my husband, me or young son ever got sick from our older son when he had a cold. You just need to make sure that you clean all the pieces after each use. Again, it's a great investment and non damaging to your baby's nose (if you follow directions). My Pediatrician recommends that you don't over use (more than 6x a day every day) to the point that you are drying out their noses. Once to twice day or more when they are sick is perfectly fine. Its just common sense. Lastly, the use of the device has cut down on the duration of his cold. He's had only one ear infection since birth.Original Review March 16, 2012I purchased this item after a friend of mine recommended it. My 10 week old son had been suffering from a cold for a while. The bulb sunction device we used prior to getting the Nosefrida did not work very well at clearing his nasal passage. I could not wait till the Nosefrida arrived to use it. It finally did and after the first use was able to suck out a large amount of mucous (yes, it sounds gross) but to hear your baby finally breathe clearly in weeks was the happiest moment for me. My son did not cry, just laid there comfortably while I cleared out his nose. I highly recommend this product to any new parents. I have already purchased an additional one for a friend's upcoming baby shower.
