Fantastic Concept, But WAY OVERPRICED
LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AND THE FIRST ONE I ORDERED IS ALMOST DEAD. WASTE OF MONEY. BUY A CRATE TRAY AND A $10 SOD PIECE AT LOWES AND MAKE YOUR OWN. IT WILL LAST LONGER AND WHEN IT DOES DIE IT WILL BE CHEAPER TO REPLACE. CHANGING MY 5 STARS TO 1. I WISH I HADNT BOUGHT A SECOND ONE. Most important part, its SO easy to clean. We bought biodegradable poop bags and we just pick the poop up every time we see them go out to poop. The pee isn't really a factor. I don't see it pooling up or anything (and it's been in use for a week by 2 medium sized dogs), nor are they having wet paws. This setup is expensive, but honestly if you take into account puppy pads and how much they cost, how many you have to use, buy something to put them in to keep them still, plus the fact it's excess plastic waste for landfills, I still think this this is the better option. It's better for money in the long run, the environment, looks, and ease of cleaning. I've only had it a week, so I can't say how long the grass lasts yet. The grass was pretty and green and damp when it arrived. I do plan on trying to take care of it so it lasts as long as possible. I have liquid fertilizer for my aquarium I plan on mixing with water if the grass starts to look dry. One of my dogs cannot be unattended in the yard, he eats rocks large enough they have to be surgically removed. It's happened twice now, so I had to fence off my concrete sidewalk. When they go out the dog door that's all they have, and I bought one of these grass pads to put on the sidewalk so they still have a "yard". It's heavy enough I'm not worried about it blowing around outside. I didn't have to teach my dogs anything. My youngest (rock eating) dog immediately went and peed on it literally once I rolled it out on the tray. My old dog usually knows to pee on command, so I told her that's her pee place. She had some accidents right next to it the first couple days, but she's gotten better. Yeah they'd still rather have their big yard, they gaze sadly at their yard through the fence, but for a dog with severe grass allergies and tendency for rocks I think this is the best option. Oh and that's another thing, the grass is hydroponically grown. He has serious allergies, like he chews on his feet cause they itch after being outside and has constant yeast infections in his ears he goes to the vet for. I haven't noticed him chewing his feet since he was confined to just this grass. It might just be cause he's only on the grass long enough to potty and not exposed long enough, but I wonder if it's cause this stuff is hydroponically grown. Long review, sorry bout that. But this is really great. It's worth the investment and easier to take care of. It's honestly been a life saver for us.

Wish it was bigger.
Update: it’s just getting pricey. The longer I use it the more I dislike it. Had a rain dump (2 days and then heat wave of 2 weeks) and it flooded, killed, and made what was in the tray basically the equivalent of farm/ag sewage on my porch in a smelly mat. Urine doesn’t collect in a doggy bag. Dog refused to go outside immediately. I’m about to hit the cold/monsoon season and this will become expensive real fast. I’m debating on moving just so I can have an actual lawn that drains. Someone in a review suggested stacking an extra layer for drainage but I already use 2. This is becoming not worth it. This is now month 4? Unfortunately this is probably still my best alternative in the mean time. Original: Pretty good. Unfortunately I need bigger and it doesnt come bigger (got XL). Buying a 2nd to make "bigger" by overlaying the grass the opposite direction to avoid potential seem leakage. My dog is a female Irish Setter 1 yr (maybe 60 lbs) and has massive poops and urinates a lot. In less than a month it was dying (lol) but it also left no room for more without tracking in a potential mess (I clean up after her but it sticks to the grass with no way to clean it further; considered getting compost like dust to sprinkle on it to experiment). I didn't want plastic because I don't have water or proper dumping access where as this I can just roll up and toss but I am concerned about what doesn't dry up/leak to the tray to kill the next batch faster. Also, my pup knows to go outside but doesn't know when to tell me (working on it) to take her out to the side of the apartments (no dog park or dog area) so this was a way to help mitigate interior accidents by having a patch on the balcony that is freely accessible. I hope they consider making a larger tray even if the grass stays the same (use double the grass). Honestly would think it would be cool to have my entire porch covered in grass like a private lawn but the drainage combined with a pet it just wouldn't work. Turf is great otherwise. Ordering my first refill w/ a second tray so we will see from there.

Came quickly and was larger than expected
Came very quickly , but was larger than I expected. I have a Senior siberian husky that sometimes has to go in the middle of the night, and this has been a lifesaver to get him out quickly. Has held up well with a 70lb husky and 10lb chihuahua. The XL is definitely big, make sure you have enough room for it on a balcony!

Its a nice concept
Haven’t been able to get my dog to use it. I like the idea of it. It came quickly in a box with just enough protection. The grass did roll down and buldged out the box, but it didn’t bust open and tray arrived without breaking. Tray is a little weaker than perfect as it does sag when carrying it with two people, especially after watering. Because no pee has been on it, it continues to grow and survive. A mini mower needs to be the next invention. I like it as its a fun little patch of backyard grass. It is growing in a mat that can roll back. and rinsed off, water and fed plant food. Price is expensive but that’s probably mostly shipping costs. I would love to see how long it lasts with dog use.

Lifesaver
I have an 18 yr old Shihpoo who has recently needed to use the bathroom more frequently. I walk him 4 times a day but he was still having accidents inside the house and I could tell he was stressed about it. I live in a high rise and he also has arthritis so increasing the frequency of his walks wasnt a viable option. When I tell you this is a LIFESAVER. He took to the grass pad immediately. No more house accidents! And the box surprisingly doesn't leak. I get the square box for my 20lb pup and he does wonderful with it. Need to swap it every 2 weeks due to the smell. Bit pricey but Id do anything to make my lil man comfortable and this is worth it. If you have an older puppy struggling with incontinence, this product is for you.
