Q: Pink,red & purple food coloring usually tastes awful is this better tasting?

I have not found that to be true at all.

Q: Are these dyes oil based or water based?

This one (white) is a glycerin base which is water soluble

Q: Are all colours tasteless? I find burgundy always bitter?

Most are tasteless but occasionally if you add a lot of gel color to get a deep color it can be slightly bitter. I find air brushing deep colors on flowers and such solves that problem.
