Q: Under linux, what driver-packages allow card software settings and namely 'os, software bifurcation' from the 'card's harware bifurcation'?

Any non-EOL version of linux will have the driver with the stock kernel

Q: Should most sfp+ adapters work in this unit? are there any known exceptions? we are hoping to put in 1xsfp+ direct attach cable and 1xsfp copper...
