- QUALTIY ASSURED – The main advantage of our Sprint 9.5mm Axle is that through axles enable you to get a more secure connection between frame and wheel as the axle goes through the hub and almost always then screwed into the frame. It also is a stronger design than a Quick Release, due to the thicker more robust design. SOLID AXLE – A bolt-on wheel, also referred to as a solid axle or one that uses an axle nut. Our Sprint solid Axle consists of a Hi-tensile Forged Steel rod that’s threaded and secured to your bicycle by two nuts. The nuts screw onto the axle and are tightened using a hex key. SPECIFICS – The 175mm long by 9.5mm (3/8" x 6 4/5") thick axle is a perfect replacement for a damaged axle or to replace a weaker Quick Release axle (26tpi). Depending on your riding style and frame dropouts 8mm QR can be weak and flexy thus our 9.5mm bolt up conversion will provide appropriate strength/rigidity for older frames and Downhill riding.
