I have been using Biohome Ultimate Filter Media in my 125L axolotl tank, and it has been a gamechanger. Before, I used to get occasional nitrate spikes and some instability in my water parameters, even though the tank was fully cycled. After switching to Biohome, my water has been incredibly stable within 3 months. ammonia and nitrite stay at 0, and nitrates remain low thanks to the combination of the media and my live plants. The media has an impressive surface area and supports a strong biological filter. My two axolotls are thriving gills are healthy, behavior is normal, and I feel confident about the longterm health of my tank. Maintenance is easy too I just rinse it gently in old tank water when needed, and it keeps working like a champ. If you’re looking for a high quality biological media that truly stabilizes your aquarium and supports healthy aquatic life, I highly recommend Biohome Ultimate. Worth every cent!

Not the cheapest medium to buy but it’s worth it! Never had better water results.

As seen on my photo, 2lbs of Biohome can fill up to 2 trays of my Fluval 407 when arranged vertically. The ceramic bio rings that Fluval came with is significantly lesser. So I just used the bio rings to top off 2 trays of Biohome. I used coarse and fine polishing sponges in the bottom tray, then Biohome and ceramic rings in the next 2 trays, then lastly Purigen and Poly-fil in the top tray. My water stayed Crystal clear! Even after putting in my driftwood, it sucked up the tannins overnight :) as far as cycling my new fishless 55gal tank, it took me almost 1.5 months to fully cycle. Though it may be expensive, I'd say its still worth it in the long run :)
