The whey protein can absolutely be taken with water only! It's very much a preference for everyone.

The whey protein does not have any gluten ingredients added, however, it is important to note that we do use a manufacturing company that also processes products with gluten and other allergens; therefore, we cannot guarantee a zero percent chance for cross-contamination. Does this have dairy in it?

It is made with whey which is made from dairy, though this is whey isolate which has the lowest amount of lactose in it (if that is why you ask), coming from someone who has problems with lactose in milk and yogurt I don't have any problems with this product - they also advertise on their website that they add digestive enzymes to the formula.
