A WALK IN TIME WITH THE MASTER
I heard Robert Frost at my high school in 1955. It was about 8 years before his death and yet he was as full of life that day as anyone I have ever seen or heard. He didn't embellish his works. I think he read them as he felt when he first wrote that particular poem. He had a specific cadence for each reading and I felt as if I was right there standing in the woods on a snowy evening or in front of two roads that diverged into a yellow wood. My memory of these events and his readings in his book of poetry are organic. I feel as if I am alive in that specific time in American history that he was writing about. He helped me feel the way folks felt long ago. I could better understand the meaning of his poetry by living in the time he wrote them. This book contains in excess of 150 poems. There is plenty of material to assist you in finding your favorite. Whether its a poem about Christmas trees or the death of the hired hand, the topics he writes about are most sanguine and even contemporary in today's time.So snuggle up in your reading chair and face the roar of a winter's fire. Sip on a cup of your favorite tea and let Robert Frost transport your soul into time long past but whose meaning is just as alive today as the noise falling snow makes or the sound of the wind through the evergreens. You owe it to yourself to read from the works of a master..If you expect a review from me based on the works of Robert Frost, in one word let me say "superb." How often are you given this opportunity? Which road will you choose?. It will make a difference.

If just for a moment, get carried away by beauty and meaning, encompassed in a just a few words!
As an immigrant living in NYC, where people only need a few words to get around, I have forgotten the beauty and depth of language. The book starts with poems that are written in somewhat simple language, but hold big meaning, then progress to more complex verbiage and ideas. I spend time with each poem, really digesting the meaning. Frost's magnificent skill of putting words together to create a very deep meaning is like sipping aged fine wine in a fancy Nappa Valley Winery - its complex, but rewarding. You might not get it at first., but don't despair. You don't have to be anyone to enjoy it either. I'm not some shmuck sitting in a leather chair puffing on a cigar sitting on my parents' big fortune, just an average joe with public school education. Read and think. Think and read. This will make you a more well-rounded person, at least in thought.

Book Arrived Partially Damaged
The book was listed "Like New", but looked like it had been beat up when it arrived. Not sure if this was the original quality or if it was damaged during shipment. The pages themselves seem okay, but the binding and cover will need some repairing. as they are partially torn and look like they were crushed.

A Handsome and Comprehensive Collection of Robert Frost
This is my second purchase of a complete volume of Robert Frost’s poems. My old one was quite battered and had some scribbles (came secondhand). This one is much the same in content: table of contents in the front, index of first lines and titles in the back, poems in between. Simple, well organized, easy to find what you’re looking for. My sole complaint is that the book was packaged carelessly and the dust jacket is ripped as a result. Since this is a review for the book itself, and not Amazon’s packing and shipping quality, I think it deserves 5 stars.

Great poems, good edition
I was only passingly familiar with Frost's work and decided to try reading more. I believe it is worth getting the complete works, and worth paying for a hardcover book. So much of his work is quite powerful, and the way he uses the English language very interesting. You will likely find yourself re-reading a lot of the poems, to think about them, or because they stimulated you but you couldn't quite "get" it the 1st time. Having a hard cover and nice paper makes for a satisfying reading experience, and it will last. It is a really nice size, too, not too big, like an oversized paperback it fits in your hands well and is portable. There are "best-ofs" and anthologies with other poets, but the complete works is a worth-it investment. One more good-and-bad point is, the editing. There is no explanation of the poems or the works. This is great in that the work just stands on its own. However however brief, a short biography of Frost could't have been a bad thing. Furthermore, I am sure 1 or two poems could have been explained on a "this was written after x famous event" or "was included in a letter he sent to y" kind of explanation. I don't need extraneous analysis, but some background could have been good.

I was disappointed that it absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke
While I knew this book was not new, I was disappointed that it absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke. I will not have it in the house.
