Andersen Storm Door Closer Kit in Almond Color

I had this same closer on my storm door for about a dozen years and it finally gave out. I went to the local home improvement store (the orange one), as I wanted to get the exact same make and model so I could just swap out the closer utilizing the existing brackets. The store only had it in white or black; I needed almond. So I checked amazon who came through for me -- the kit I needed in the almond color I needed. As an added bonus, it was $7 cheaper on amazon.

I’m so glad I found this on Amazon! I started out at that home improvement store, HD, and they tried telling me I needed the model number from the existing door before they could help me. The door is 15 years old and I no longer had the information they were needing, so I went on line, found and purchased this (an updated part to what was there previously) and it worked perfectly! I didn’t even need to replace the mounting hardware, the old existing worked just fine.

Although I was taken aback by the high price for this item, I decided that it would be worth the premium to have a closer that was specifically designed as a replacement part for my door. A couple of months ago we noticed that the door was slamming shut, so turned the adjustment screw which seemed to correct the problem, but this was a temporary fix. This door is repeatedly adjusted, but it doesn't hold for long.Called Andersen who offered me 10% off of a replacement, which is s SCAM, I'm not about to fork our $35 every 18 months (which makes Andersen doors a terrible value). This closer should last for many years and Andersen, which prides itself on selling quality products should back their parts and products.
