Lets put this 6 year old debate to bed here.  Torque Test Channel on YT has a rig to test actual torque output of these things...and test they did/do.  On the top speed, this impact driver is rated to put out 1825 in/lbs...or divide by 12 and you get 152 lb/ft.  They didn't test this exact model, but several other Dewalt units that claim the same 1825 in/lbs or 150 lb/ft but in smaller chassis. (Even harder to make torque) They managed to punch above their rating.  I wouldn't expect different from such a well known brand.  They were making from 175-200 lb/ft of torque!

So, it's got the beans to get a lug nut off IMO just fine with anything under 110-120 lb/ft.  HOWEVER. I 100% would NOT recommend this tool for that application AT ALL.  First off, you're going to be breaking hex to 1/2" socket adapters left and right.  They did so on the TTC videos/tests as well.  That and you'll be pushing the tool holding it wide open for 10-15 seconds to hit that torque number and loosen the lug nut.

As others here said the best option IMO is to go grab a 1/2" drive mid-torque.  The price won't be that different.  Check out the TTC channel on YT along with "Project Farm" to see all the current units on market tested.  It's eye opening!  Good luck to whoever is reading this in 2022 wondering the same question.

This impact has almost 1500 in-lbs of torque. Very good impact and you can beat the hell out of them they definitely last.
