Why did you pick this product vs others?:I bought this for my 5.5 year old granddaughter and it’s a great starter set for her. I had bought a 30 pc set for her older brother and did not want her to feel left out since she loves doing what he is doing. My older grandson loved that I had bought her one so she would not be tempted to play with his. This set is nice, the sizes are perfect for my 5 yr old grand daughter’s hands. She loves the brush and magnifying glass and is always showing off her collection to family and friends. It teaches children about geology and the different types of minerals in the world.

The media could not be loaded. Bought as an activity for me with my 13, 10, and 8 year old nieces/nephew. Tons of variety, a lot of pretty ones, some polished and some not. (Note, there are two different sets offered in this listing—I bought the larger set, 250 pieces.)We enjoyed matching up all the rocks with the chart. I think we found all of them. They were wanting to take their favorite rocks home, but I like the set too much to break it up. In other words, it's MINE! :) I was obsessed with rocks and fossils as a kid and this kit would have been a dream come true.There's an accompanying booklet that we ended up using quite a bit, especially to learn about the fossils (which were still in the taped-up box in this video). I read them the page about "coprolite"—which yes, is found in this box too—and the youngest thought that was absolutely hilarious. I was surprised to read that one of the fossils in the box is something that has been extinct for millions of years, wow!We took the two geodes out to the driveway, put each one in an old sock, and hit them with a hammer. One cracked easily and looked like we hoped inside, hollow-ish and sparkly. The other took awhile to crack and was just solid hard crystal inside, which was less exciting. But it's always a gamble with geodes.The extra pound of "small tumbled stones" adds some extra interest and gives you something to "dig through" if you mix all the stones together. (The ones that we matched with the chart are generally larger in size and nicer looking than the small tumbled stones.) We didn't have time to do the crystal growing kit.Excellent value! I will look at this company for future gifts!

This kit was amazing, well beyond the expectations that I had for it!The second date I had with my boyfriend, he surprised with this beautiful amethyst kind of crystal, and it instant.y became our thing. He called them "pretty rocks" and would surprise me out of the blue with them, dropping them off in my classes, or placing them in his pockets for me to find. I started giving them back to him, as I had already had a pretty huge collection due to my aunt who like to explain the healing properties of a bunch of them to me when I was younger. But recently I've started running low, and have been wanting to buy more pretty rocks to keep up my tradition with him.I searched around amazon and finally stumbled upon this kit. I will admit I was a little apprehensive when I first saw the price, but this is well worth your money. Not only does this kit come with so, so many pretty rocks, like my and my boyfriend's favorite, tiger's eye, but it also comes with sharks teeth, arrowheads, crystals, and even geodes to crack on your own. This kit also came with an identification sheet, more information on all the rocks, crystals, shark teeth and instructions on how to crack the geodes safely, which really was the cherry on top of this amazing kit.I was a little confused as to why there were pebbles in the bag, but when reading another review, I've found out that they just make it more fun to dig through to find the pretty rocks, which is a really smart idea for kids! I was a little sad because the "root", I guess you could say, was broken off most of my sharks teeth, but I think it was just the handling of the bag during shipping. But the dust and sand in the bag really adds to the authentic feel of this kit.I would highly, HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who is interested in these kinds of rocks, because it was so, so awesome. I can't wait to give these pretty rocks to my boyfriend, with so many this'll last me a long, long time!

I purchased this a couple of days ago, and have really enjoyed these pretty Little Rock’s!It has been my pleasure to share this, as the variety of these gorgeous rocks is great, some rocks are small, some are smooth, some are rough, and som are big as well as all of the colors! Sooooo many! LOVE THE VARIETY!!❤️💓❤️I used this kit as a project for sorting out each rock. Not only did this kit come with all sorts of rocks, it also came with a magnifying glass, a booklet(containing details about all the rocks with color photos, drawings, note space, and glossy pages. It also came with Geodes!! (Love them!) all time fav cracking open with hammer!! The only thing that I was disappointed with was the smallness of some of the rocks. (But a lot were big) + an identification sheet to identify your little specimens! The messiness was easy to contain within a box(included) but was not bad at all. Very good product would recommend!😀

Love the fact they have a book that teaches about the different rocks, fossils and shark teeth. Also think it's cool they sent polished and raw forms of the the rocks. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is it says it was supposed to come with an arrow head which I didn't get. I planned to use that to make a necklace for my husband. Awesome gift for young rock lovers

The kit kept my very intelligent & curious 7 year old occupied for days. I really enjoyed the interactive matching activity as well as the accompanying book that is written scientifically, but on a level children or beginner geologists can access. We’ve really enjoyed the activity!!
