Simple story: Out of curiosity, I brought some strong DEET and a bottle of Cactus Juice to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in August...when the biting flies are thick and viscous.The first day, I slathered on the DEET. It worked. The flies would hover six inches away from my face, but they didn't bite. That said, 10 miles of flies harassing me got tiresome.The Cactus Juice worked a lot better. The flies didn't come close. It was like I was invisible. At first, I thought maybe I had just found a fly-free hike (is there such a thing in the UP?), so I kept using the Cactus Juice to see if I had different luck elsewhere. To my amazement, the flies continued to stay away.This stuff is very effective and claims to be very safe. They proudly proclaim "safe for kids" on the label, and even my chemical-fearing ex has approved it for use on our three year old. It is the only insect repellant I use, and I highly recommend it.

Someone told me this worked wonders repelling mosquitoes. I couldn't tell. Maybe one or two of them didn't want to mess with this stuff, but I couldn't tell.Granted, this isn't advertised as such, so I gather a medium score to be fair.

Definitely relieves the intense itch from sand flea bites on Southern beaches. Bought several Cactus Juice products this time around for our Gulf vacation after reading that they are supposed to really help with the sand flea issue (which made several of us pretty miserable last year and made it hard to sleep at nights). Have had very minimal issues this year after using the Cactus Juice products, and the bites we did get were our own fault for forgetting to apply when the sand fleas were most likely to be out (evening, after rains)--and this miracle gel has calmed the bites we did get so that we could sleep. Newbies to Southern vacationing but we have learned our lesson and Cactus Juice products will always be in our arsenal! :)

My wife used this as an after sun burn gel and it worked great, I used it as an "after bite" lotion to calm the itching of the few sand fly bites I got while in Honduras and it worked great for them too. Soothed the sun burns and stopped the itching, kept bugs at bay.Also, seemed to keep the bugs away while wearing it. I used with the cactus juice eco spray and sun screen for a trifecta of bug protection and it really worked well.With Cactus Juice products I cut the amount of sand fly bites by over 90% while in Honduras this year compared to last year and the conditions were the same. I was thrilled.

I don't believe this is the same product as I had ordered a ten years ago - the company must have changed. Very disappointed in product.

This product is just okay. But very similar to the 100% Aloe Vera, Green Stuff you can pick up cheaper and more readily at local stores.

I recently went to Honduras. Bugs do not bite me at all. Mosquitos do not like my blood. My husband and daughter used this and loved it. It worked.
