I have been painting in the Asian style on xuan paper since 2005 and have tried a lot of paper. This one is not one of my favorites. This is an inexpensive machine-made paper that is very absorbant and cottony. Unlike some higher-quality and more expensive hand-made xuan papers, this is not a very lively or responsive paper. I tried using it as backing paper when wet-mounting but it is just too soft. My plan, then is to use it when I'm loosely trying out a new composition or trying to learn to use my brush to achieve a certain shape..IT IS FINE PRACTICE PAPER!. You don't want to use your best paper when you are just trying to play around with your brush and ink. This is an excellent company with very fine products and service. I have purchased other paper from them that I absolutely love, so be sure and do purchase from this wonderful company.
