thorlos LTH Light Hiking Thick Padded Crew Sock

For years I have just bought the cheapest athletic socks - 6-pair bulk packs of name brand socks at Walmarts or Sam's Club in generic 10-12 size fits all. They wear out pretty fast, and they do not provide the support and cushioning that I now know can be provided by quality socks such as these Thorlos. They also don't fit my size 13-14 feet all that well, binding on my toes and offering little benefit other than covering my feet in the shoes. I no longer run to preserve what's left of my knee joints, hips and ankles - but I do walk daily. My walks average 2.5 - 3 miles a day, and I keep a very brisk pace - up hill and down - just short of breaking into a trot. it is a work out, not a stroll. At the end of the day, I would still have some joint aches, foot fatigue and swelling. On a browsing expedition around the Amazon site, I found socks listed in my foot size... 13-15. I ordered a pair of Thorlo Lt Hiking Crew socks to try them out. I did so and the result was that I ordered four more pairs.The Thorlo socks are durable - well made, and offer cushioning for the pad of the foot and the heel. They fit perfectly, with no folds or lose material. The tubular section that covers the arch and instep of the foot is constrictive - supportive and snug, giving an overall feel of comfort to the foot. Now, when I complete my daily walks my feet do not feel tired - they do not have that nagging fatigued strained sense from before. My joints - knees, ankles, hips - do not complain as they did BT (Before Thorlo) -- and at the end of the day, my feet are not swollen.These socks are expensive -- they are worth it. I don't care how long they last - or don't last -- I'll replace them when they wear out. I suspect they will last at least as long as the bulk discount store socks I used to wear regularly. I'm good with that.

I was waiting for a local retailer to receive their shipment of these socks when I found them here on Amazon.I ordered three pair base on three pair I purchased previously locally.They fit fine and are very comfortable. I' often wear them hiking and as daily wear and the comfort is better than average and better than most competitors . Minimal dampness while wearing. Quick drying after my hikers are removed. Good wear and comfort at the price point

Great hiking socks. Super cushion and comfort. Have hiked hundreds of miles up mountains in these. These have lasted eight years and still have their elasticity.

My husband has Thorn socks that are over 20 years old and he still wears them. I have been trying to find more because the socks I got him when I could not find Thorlos just don't wear as well. I have been looking at various places when we shop and honestly thought they did not make them anymore. Then a light bulb went off in my head and I thought - I didn't try Amazon. Well, because the outdoor store we go to and the athletic store didn't have them I was very surprised to see them here, and happy.He is still wearing the old socks because they still work, but the new ones are softer and have more padding.I'm very pleased that Amazon came through yet again~

I must preface this review with the following, I can only compare these to normal socks.These are SO MUCH BETTER than normal socks!I used them for hiking in Costa Rica in March. It is their dry/hot season and I used them in both the rainforest and dry beach conditions.They kept my feet at just the right temperature, maybe slightly on the warm side.I'm sure my feet sweated (I was wearing waterproof boots so ventilation is limited) and when I took my boot off my feet felt great. Not damp.The socks have a ton of cushioning and grip my feet very well.I'm a about size 9.5 US / 42 EU +/- .5 depending on the show and I got the medium which says only up to size 8 US, but I'm glad i got the smaller size.They socks dried pretty quickly when i hung them up as well.I don't know how they will turn out after a wash or after long term use, but the first time out was great!

I originally started wearing these socks in 2001! Didn't believe my girlfriend when she said I needed good "wicking" socks for our mountain hiking. I bought a pair... despite the cost (which I thought was ridiculous because I always bought the 'ol sixpack of white tubes). I own 7 pairs of them that I bought between 2001 and 2005. I wear them about 4 days a week on average as I don't wear them on days I work. NOT ONE pair has worn through (under a guy of 300 lbs!) in all those years! They are all nearly like new, except 2 pair. Sure they are not quite as soft as day 1 but they are in incredible shape, still form fit and perform, and yes wick sweat. I have two pair that finally are starting to wear out the elastic on the tops. I also have huge calves. I believe these socks are well worth the money and are incredibly comfortable. No other brands that I have bought since even last a couple years and they certainly don't fit as well.I just received 3 new pair (which are, as I said, the first pairs I have purchased in at least 7 or 8 years. The fit is the same, they feel the same, and look the same. Only time will tell if they have "quietly" changed the quality like so many other things these days. But for the longevity and quality they've given me, they deserved another chance. I only wish shoes and boots could be made to wear a little better.An update, 4 months after receiving the socks, they seem to be the same ones I bought several years ago. My Lord they are nice!Keep it up ThorLo.

Bought these socks years ago. I wear these socks hard every winter. I even wear them jogging. And still no signs of any significant wear. No holes. Worth every penny!

I am quite content with this purchase of Thorlos cushion crew socks. The fit is fine. The construction is very good. The socks are very comfortable. They are a valuable addition to my workout gear. I have no hesitation in recommending Thorlos socks.
