For Every Teenager (and Adult!) You Know
What a refreshing and informative read. If I had read this in High School, I think this book would have saved me years of wasting my precious energy and money on things that did not support my health (detox anyone?!). As a Weight Neutral Health Coach, I have already shared this book with many clients (who are not teens) because the language in this book makes these confusing concepts easy to digest and focuses on health, just for the health of it! There's no should/shouldn't talk, just acceptance and support in each chapter. I knew myself a little better after reading it and felt that I had a road-map for the kind of health I want in my life: mindful, intuitive, accepting and full of opportunities to learn more about myself, in whatever body I have. Thank you to the authors!

Registered Dietitian Approved!
As a Registered Dietitian specializing in adolescent nutrition, I recommend this book to all of my clients! Most teens that I work with struggle with some sort of body image dissatisfaction, disordered eating behaviors, and disconnection from their body's hunger and fullness cues. This book is full of helpful tools for teens to work through those struggles and is an incredible adjunct to our face-to-face work. In a society that instills fear around food, this book helps to simplify nutrition information, it helps teens reconnect with their body so that they can eat flexibly and learn to trust food and their body, again. It really is the perfect resource, and is unlike any other books out there currently! I can't recommend it enough.

Must read!!!
This is a must read for any boy or girl entering adolescence. This book covers all kinds of challenge areas for teens and is one of the few books, if not the only book, to encourage body positivity, to teach kids that dieting doesn't work (if only I knew that back then...!), to pack balanced meals, how to listen to their listen to their hunger cues and to eat/stop in response. These are the kinds of books that should be taught in health classes instead of some of the sensational documentaries currently being shown! Excellent read!

Teen Body Image and Eating
I'm a psychologist and eating disorder specialist and am excited to be able to recommend this book. The book is a teen-friendly guide to eating and body image. It covers important related topics like physical changes of puberty, understanding emotions, stress management strategies, and good sleep and exercise habits. It discusses body diversity and acceptance. Most importantly, it presents a non-diet approach to balanced eating in which all foods are allowed. This is such a critical message for teens.

Great Read!
This book should be required reading for all teenagers, whether or not they have an eating disorder. It is informative and relevant and addresses very important issues. It should also be a required reading for all parents, whether or not their children have eating disorders as it will help parents understand the issue better. Thank you for such an important contribution!!

It could have been a great resource
There was a lot of great information for teens but I cannot recommend the book. The authors recommendations for meals and food choices include way too many processed carbohydrates including brownies, cookies, granola, cereals, etc., which will not only contribute significantly to weight gain but mood disturbances and fatigue. Overweight teens do have problems with insulin resistance and should be made aware of the effect of sugars and processed carbs on their overall health and well being. I believe the message on food choices would be counterproductive to all teens. So much other good information but a total lack of understanding of the impact of food choices on health.
