Well worth the money
Wasn’t sure about paying $30 for just another digging tool but my wife gave me better than 200+ flowers to plant. We’d recently removed quite a few bushes that had just become too overgrown. I was right in hiring a young guy to remove them for me and being 68 with stage 4 cancer he was well worth it. But the big problem still remained. Those 25 year old bushes left behind a boatload of roots big and small. But this trowel was impressive when I received it. It is extremely well made and heavy duty and the design was well thought out. If you have old loose soil that’s been turned over a thousand times you can use just about anything. But with my hard old root filled flowerbeds were a challenge. The front edge of this digger is sharp and about as sturdy as can be. It cuts through the smaller roots like they weren’t even there. Thicker roots up to about 3/8”-1/2” in diameter took a few whacks but cut right through most of them. For the largest roots I had a set of loppers that took them right off. But this trowel was the only tool I needed for 80% of the holes I had to dig. I used this trowel on several of the 12” wide and 12” deep holes as well. Yes, I have the small augers bits used on a drill and even a gas operated auger with bits up to 10”. But I find augers have a tough time dealing with roots. This tool won’t work for every application but it certainly made my life easier digging smaller holes for planting. This tool is exceptionally well made and engineered and I believe was worth more money than I even paid. Plus I’m not in that good of shape to begin with. Younger folks should also use this tool. If you have the money in these tough economic times I’d highly recommend you spend s few extra bucks and get this tool that will probably last you a lifetime. It also comes with an extremely well made holster to store it in which I would recommend you use because the trowel is sharp.

This is a MUST HAVE! GAME CHANGER!
I love my Radius Rootslayers, have loved them since I first got my hands on one. Since then I have bought them for friends, I hadn't tried the spade til now, and it is every bit as fantastic as the bigger Rootslayer. Absolute GAME CHANGER. And everyone who tries it loves it. Amazing product line. Buy one, you won't regret it. And you won't break it.

HIGH QUALITY, DEFINATE PURCHASE
5 STAR PURCHASE, bought both the narrow and wide body had shovel. I am a landscaper and LOVE this tool for planting flowers, bulbs, transplanting, splitting larger perennials for transplant. HIGH QUALITY construction, ergonomic for the hand, comfortable to use all day. However DO NOT leave your tools out in the sun, of course it will fade handles over time. I keep my in an enclosed box when not in use. HIGH QUALITY, have purchased 5 of them for family members and friends as Birthday gifts

Handy saw edges on the side of the trowel
This trowel does a great job when working with soil that is loaded with roots. Previously I had to hack away or maybe use my rip-saw to cut through thick roots. This trowel has a partial saw edge on each side of the trowel. This edge blasts through skinny roots as though they are not there. Thicker roots can get sawn through with the edge - I simply shove the trowel in, making sure that the saw edge gets forced across the root. The saw edge works in one direction and has little trouble with roots up to one inch thick as long as you maintain contact between the saw edge and the root and are reasonably forceful. I think this could cut thicker roots, but at some point it makes sense to use something like a rip saw on really thick roots.

Fantastic
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Absolutely murders its role, I even use it for a few things above ground since it works so well as a small saw for vines once you find the bulbs. My mom had it for over two years and I had used hers a few times, so I got my own and I could not love it more, the larger shovelis amazing as well.
