The ISOmetric Bible: Exercise Anywhere with Scientifically Proven Isometrics Paperback – July 11, 2018

I didn’t like the book at first due to the lack of an index. However, today I started reading most of it and realized it has a wealth of history about isometrics. I have changed my rating to five stars.

"When I was training with 4 time world strongest man Jon Paul Sigmarrson..." was repeated so many times it was ridiculous. Some concepts were good and may add something to my tool kit, but there was a lot of fluff, and repeating of concepts and practices. I have to admit that I love isometrics, and use it as part of my powerlifting training, but I would say that this 372 page book could easily have been 20 - 30 pages. No real justification of 7 seconds (other authorities range for power from 5 - 10 seconds) No recommendation to number of sets.... no comment on limit of time for workouts...for a beginner in isos the pictures of the exercises would be helpful, but again, directions repeated...reiterated ad nauseum. With a title like THE isometric bible, I expected so much more.

This was a phenomenal book. It was well written and enjoyable to read. The history of isometrics and the scientific research was fascinating. The step by step instructions and pictures made it easy to perform the exercises. I just purchased The 70 Second Difference and I can’t wait to incorporate isometrics into my exercise program.

First off, this book is a good introduction for those without any knowledge of isometrics and it will also help the person that already knows about isometrics. The book is rooted in well documented science of strength and muscle. I would like to give it five stars but can't. I'm giving four, but wish there was a 3.5 as that's where I feel this really falls with the shortcomings I will get to. The content is five star material, but some shortcomings detract from the quality of the material.What I found frustrating is that the book really needs a good editor to force some cleanup and succinctness upon the authors. Numerous parts are repeated and some items that seemed to be part of one chapter end up a chapter on their own messing up the flow.Authors, you have the makings of what could be the best Isometric book out there today, and should be given what you are trying to do with your institute.My advice. Get an editor, listen to them. Oh, and change to a serif font. What you have now screams of print on demand and takes away from the quality.This is still a worthy book but not as great as it could be with some polish.

A very smart book, written by real experts! The biggest advantage of isometric exercises is they can be done with the simplest or even without any equipment. I guess, not many people understand that and mistakenly think that the only true exercises are the exercises based on motions. It's a typical misbelief.I enjoy reading it!

I'm thinking this is just to make money.No where near a isometric Bible.To much filler crap not enough exercises an she doesn't look like she even works out.Very disappointed not worth the money so don't waste ur time on this book.

The author clearly knows her stuff. The techniques work and her symmetry is incredible as she shows the techniques. I recommend this as a pre workout routine. The techniques shown will put your into the zone and take your workout onto a new level!

Time for 2nd edition. Until recently, the commonly-recommended isometric positions were full contraction of the muscle, or mid-point in the joint's range of motion, but recent evidence is that isometrics in stretch position build muscle most efficiently, the oppoosite of earlier claims Thus a biceps exercise is done w/the elbow almost completely extended, & triceps w/the elbow completely flexed This isn't popular among measured -isometric enthusiasts, because it 'moves less weight'. The question is, do you want to SEEM stronger, or actually GET stronger?
