Yes, hot water makes good cocoa with this mix. I pour all into canister and scoop out as much as I need. I always add a couple splashes of " coffee creamer" because I like the different flavors.

how many cups will this make?

If you follow the directions it will make about 21 servings. I usually make mine a little bigger (I use a large mug) so I get less servings out of a bag. It is the best hot chocolate I have ever had...

I only saw the 2lb size, a great buy for high quality. Look on the site see if there's a larger offering.

Does this taste more dark or milk chocolate?

It's somewhere in-between. Definitely not milk chocolate but it's not very dark either. Personally, I find it the best cocoa mix I've ever found and have ordered it several times.
