The Collected Poems

Lovely edition
This book was a present for my father. The print is clear and attractive and my father is very pleased with the book. As Frost was American, it has been hard to find a good edition in the UK

Robert Frost Collected Poems - far better than I expected
I am quite new to Frost, he was never an author on the reading lists of my schools or university, and so I thought it was time I gave his work some attention.I have to admit that I was wary of ordering this particular volume because some of the earlier customer reviews did not seem at all favourable. But I went ahead and ordered it anyway, mostly because it was a collected version neatly edited, but also because Amazon's price was particularly good.I was surprised by how large this volume is - I had not checked the page count before ordering - and so immediately felt I had value for my money. It seems to be bound well, a reasonably quality cover, the ink on printing is definitely not smudged in any way and it perfectly readable throughout. The paper used for the pages is stout enough with very little bleed through, one page on another, but perhaps other readers were not pleased because the paper is off-white and quite rough rather than being full-white and smooth as we often see with other publishing houses. Well, I have many novels with exactly the same kind of paper and so am not complaining, and to have a smooth, quality paper throughout would have made this volume extremely expensive. What was important to me was a book that I could easily read and that contained the work I was buying. This volume ticks both boxes.I have read a number of pages to settle myself into Frost's particular style and find nothing to fault in this volume - other than the set-up of some pages, it seems a little naive to have 2 or 3 lines of the start of a poem on one page and the rest printed overleaf. But that is merely a little quibble of mine, I like everything to be neat. It doesn't detract from the reading though.I am glad I ordered this volume now, and can certainly recommend it to anyone wishing to own a sensibly priced, decently printed and bound book of Frost's collected poems. As long as you don't demand high-white ultra-smooth paper you will not be disappointed.

Incredible
Robert Frost is my favourite poet, and I love having access to pretty much his entire works in one place. The book itself is well laid out and quite nice-looking and solid for a paperback. You can just open to a random page and easily read a random poem, go to the contents to find a specific poem, or just skim for keywords to find that poem you are sure you heard but don't quite remember.

Good
I enjoyed reading the poems by this poet, although in my opinion his earlier poems were much better than his later ones. They are all not quite like any other poems I've read, very original writing.

Briiliance upon paper
The Poetry is Inspirational and sublime. BUT The delivery person who claimed to have 'left it with Dave', there is no 'Dave' in my cul-de-sac. They didn't even leave a card through the door to say where or whom it was with, no I got an e-mail saying your package has been delivered. Withe the words 'Left with Dave'. Obviously NOT a poetry fan, nor much good at anything else by the look of it.It took me almost an hour of using my own time; knocking on doors to eventually track it down, to a house who were about to go on holiday for 3 weeks...yes, see what I mean. BEWARE of incompetent's claiming to leave your item with "Dave".

Wonderful Poetry, Decent Edition
I am not qualified to comment on the poetry of Frost from a literary point of view, so I will instead discuss what stimulated me to deduct a star from this wonderful collection. Simply put, the book doesn't look or feel particularly nice. The typeface inside is old-fashioned and not particularly neat, the pages feel cheap and grainy. Transferring such a classic title to a pretty digital typeface for these reprints would surely have been cost effective, or at least a nice gesture from Vintage. The overall experience of the book is that of a student edition rather than something I'd be proud to have on the shelf. In this age of ebooks - publishers need to make aesthetically pleasing volumes (particularly of poetry, which is all over the internet for free) or face financial extinction.

Lovely poems, shame about the book.
This appears to be only current new edition of Frost's collected poems, so it was this or nothing. I am delighted to have all his poems to enjoy at last. My only reservation, like other reviewers, is the quality. The paper is rather rough and the print readable but not particularly attractive. I do feel that Frost deserves better. Part of the pleasure of reading a book is the feel of it, and from that point of view, this is a disappointment. However, it's the poems that matter, and to have them all together at last is a joy. 10 stars for the poems, 2 for the book.
