TomTom Go 500 (2013) Battery Replacement Kit with Installation Video, Tools, and Extended Life Battery.

After a shaky start with the courier claiming to have delivered it, but hadn't. It was finally delivered.The kit has all you need. The video explanation shows how simple it is.It can be quite tricky to open the TomTom Go 500 sat nav, but once done it is very easy to change the battery. The only downside was that the video and my actual sat nav had different layouts, but once you work out what is what the whole process took about 20 minutes.

This kit includes the battery and tools to help you carry out the replacement, including a DVD showing the process. It's quite expensive in comparison with a battery-only purchase, but if you need hand-holding you might be tempted. Be warned that the sequence shown in the DVD is NOT for a GO 500! While the basic principles shown apply, the GO 500 has two external screws either side of the connection port that are not described in the video. The internal layout is also different. If you don't remove these two screws, you'll never separate the case, and will probably cause damage. A single plastic tool is provided to separate the screen from the case. To say that this is not easy is an understatement. I used old credit cards to keep the already separated parts apart while I moved around the case. It's one of those jobs that's probably easier the second time around, once you realise exactly how the clips engage on the case. Job completed everything is working fine, but it was a bit of a challenge. There is a better video on YouTube that is worth viewing before you start.

Highly overpriced kit containing screwdriver, special tool, instruction DVD and battery. The screwdriver brooke after loosening a couple of screws and the special tool could easily be replaced by a knife. The DVD showed the replacement procedure for another model and was completely useless. Better of just buying the battery.

I found the interior of my TomTom Go500 to be somewhat different from the model shown in the video, however the battery was the right size and there were sufficient similarities for me to be able to complete the installation successfully. On reflection, the hardest part was splitting opening the TomTom case.

L'offre est alaichante mais rien de sensationnel dans la pochette, le cd est en anglais, l'appareil présenté n'est pas un tomtom go500les deux coques sont maintenues par deux petites vis torq sous la base, pas de tournevis pour les démonter.Il n'y a que la batterie d'intéressante dans cette pochette, batterie que l'on peut trouver seule pour 10 ou 12€ sur internetachat non justifié

Leider gab es ein paar Unwägbarkeiten. Das mitgelieferte Video zeigt den GO 50 / GO 60. Das Video auf YouTube den GO 500 von 2013. Mein GO 500 stammt von ca. 2015. Der Aufbau unterscheidet sich. Das Gehäuse läßt sich nur abnehmen wenn man "vorher" die 2 Schrauben der Ladebuchse entfernt. Das Gehäuse muss auch längs und nicht quer geöffnet werden. Das Kabel zum Monitor ist an zwei Stellen geklebt (am Monitor). Der Stecker muss gelöst werden bevor man die zwei Gehäuseteile auseinander klappt. Die Kabelführung für Batterie und Lautsprechen gehen mitten durch die Platine und nicht außen rum. Die neue Batterie hat ein extra langes Kabel, aber es geht. Die Größe der Batterien ist nicht ganz identisch. Die Original GO 500 Batterie ist dicker und ein Tick kleiner. Und erst jetzt. Ja. Beide gleiche Spannung und die Ersatzbatterie hat 20mA mehr (950mA). Alles wieder zusammengebaut und JUHU. Mein GO 500 funktioniert wieder mit Akku.

Akku und Montage-Werkzeug sehr gut! Bei der beiliegenden CD sollte man genau darauf achten, dass die Anweisungen auch wirklich zu dem eig. Gerät passt. Besser, der beiliegenden, schriftlichen Anweisung Folge leisten und sich bei You-Tube nach dem richtigen Gerät umsehen. Bei meinem TomTom musste ich z.B. vor dem Aufklipsen zwei Schrauben neben dem Stecker entfernen. Sonst hätte ich Gehäusebruch gehabt. Interne Folienstecker vorsichtig beim Öffnen abziehen, sie haben Klebe-Fixierungen. Keine Angst, die kleben bei der Re-Montage wieder, wenn man nicht gerade mit Fettfingern drauf rumfummelt. Statt ca. 300 € für Neugerät funktioniert mein TomTom für 20 € wieder .
